Image:Wimbledon view.jpg has been listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:Wimbledon view.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading Image:London Olympic stadium.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Secretlondon 16:47, 12 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your userpage was briefly delisted by a rogue admin

This user believes that only articles need reflect a NPOV, and that displaying political, religious, or other beliefs using userboxes and user categories should not be banned.

You have a userbox Template:User UN which links your userpage to United Nations Wikipedians. There is currently a movement to ban userboxes from Wikipedia which are shared and which create Lists of Wikipedians. Certain admins have taken it upon themselves to preemptively sabotage and/or delete such categories and template. Here is the incident report which reported damage to yours, in which hundreds of userpages were delinked from categories without the users' knowledge. They have been stopped, barely, and the damage reverted— for now.

There is a Wikipedia:Userbox policy poll, which if passed, will make required by policy the damage done to categories and templates such as User UN/United Nations Wikipedians. If you do not want this to happen, I urge you to vote Oppose. in the poll. Support is currently running at about 66%, and your vote could make the difference. It is said to require 75%-80% to be deemed reflective of consensus.

Thank you,

Thanks for uploading Image:Jamesarbuthnot.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 06:04, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

A watered-down version of the proposed policy against censorship is now open for voting. Will you kindly review the policy and make your opinions known? Thank you very much.Loom91 17:59, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Winston_Baldwin_SPENCER.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Marjorie Husted

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Marjorie Husted, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Marjorie Husted. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Burn Your Wishes

You had tagged this as a poss speedy delete, the author has removed this - I'm unsure whether I can re-add it (it looks like an obvious speedy to me), but you look like you've been around longer so will know what to do. Cheers, Davidprior 14:38, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fiji project

I just added a bit to your proposed project page. I also added my name to the list of interested parties. My primary interest in wikipedia is in making sure that projects which I feel to be important to the development of wikipedia be given as much help by me as I am able to offer. This includes all the national projects. As a result, my to-do backlog is, shall we say, frightening. I will offer what assistance I can to the project, but that will most likely be in terms of template construction and assessment. But, if there is anything I can do, please feel free to let me know. Good luck. Badbilltucker 19:42, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fiji Wikiproject

Thank you for the invitation! I am honoured to accept. At the moment I am more pressed for time than usual so have been less active in recent months, but yes, I do have a passionate interest in Fiji and still contribute whenever and whatever I am able. For a couple of years, I worked virtually alone on Fiji-related articles, but in the last year a couple of others have pitched in. Hopefully, this project you're starting will attract a much larger number of contributors who will be familiar with all the facets of Fijian politics, economy, geography, history, flora and fauna, etc. Once again, thank you so much for the inviation. David Cannon 22:37, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, please invite the following colleagues to join the project! Xork1000 (a Fijian who has provided MUCH NEEDED advice and checked all of my articles for inaccuracies and POV, etc.), Girmitya, a Fiji Indian/Indo-Fijian who has contributed a wealth of material on the Indian contribution to Fiji, and Laulad, who has provided a great deal of material on Fiji's chiefs. (You should have invited them before you invited me: they're the experts!) David Cannon 23:31, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed your tag as I working on it when you attacked! Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 19:34, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, My name is Duane Hurst and I recently made a free (non-commercial) English web site to share information with people. I added links to your Wikipedia/Wikimedia freeware picture. I also gave credit to you on my web pages for your work. Thank you for sharing with the public. My website is:

http://www.freeenglishsite.com/

I add pictures such as yours to one of the following major sections of my site: 1. World section - contains information and over 10,000 images of every world country and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/index.htm

2. USA section - contains information and images of every USA state and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/usa/index.htm

3. English section - "Mel and Wes" lessons in conversation format. Stories are located in various USA states and world countries such as China, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Thailand. Each lesson has many slang terms and idioms, which I link to my Slang Dictionary. This eventually will have over 5,000 terms. Currently, it has about 3,000 slang and idioms. I regularly add new lessons and slang terms. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/lessons/index.htm Slang Dictionary link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/slang/Eslang_a.htm

Prior to retirement, I taught English at several private and public universities in the United States.

Please share this free site with your friends. I hope all will enjoy the pictures and find the English information useful. Sincerely,  Duane Hurst in Utah, USA
