Rejected: Gary Snyder

I see that you rejected my article on businessman Gary Snyder, specifically in regards to the Family History and Family Holdings sections.

The information in this article cannot be found anywhere else on the Web in one concise article. That is why it is so heavily cited...The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The Associated Press and Forbes just as a sample.   The "Family history" section is key to the page, not simply for Gary Snyder's individual history, but because it places it in an unbiased, factual context for readers and researchers. Because of both his history and his family's, just as if you are writing an article on a member of the Rockefeller or the Hearst or the Murdoch families, you make sure to place in context where they fit in and how and leave it up to readers to decide whether there is too much information.   As to whether any of this is relevant to Gary Snyder, being that various news organizations (respected worldwide) feel it is, it would be incumbent on any author of an article on this individual/subject to include this context in their articles.   Once again, the information in these sections that you refer to as superfluous cannot be found anywhere else on the Web, which I believe is one of the core goals of Wikipedia. This was/is the goal of the article. Changes can be made, but more information as to why you feel this information should be deleted is needed first. Thank you for elucidating your opinion.

Space Alert Third Party tag

Hi!

I created the page for Space Alert. It's the first page I've ever created and I copied most of the layout/information style from the page for Stone Age. I'm curious as to why you added the third-party tag. Does board game geeks not qualify as a neutral third party? Should this tag also be added to the Stone Age page or has that page done something differently?

Thanks for the help!

Hello, He is having trouble understanding notability, reliable sources and why his article is at afd. He uses self pub sources and sources connected to subject. He keeps re-adding things he should not and has now been warned for edit warring. If there is anything you can help him understand, you'll have done a better job at it than I have. Improved declined article Susquehanna Warrior Trail

Hey, I saw your qualms about the notability of the article that I wrote on the Susquehanna Warrior Trail, but I found a notable news article featuring it. I improved the article by adding information from the news article, and I hope it will be reconsidered for creation.

Thanks,

Articles for Creation/Vu Ky

Hello,

Thank you for reviewing my first article. I will gather more information for the notability reference of Mr. Vu Ky. Since his accomplishments were garnered prior to the fall of Saigon at the end of April 1975, any document relating to his awards or recognition were in Vietnamese and in paper format (not on-line). Will they be sufficient if I obtain the permission from his family to scan and upload them? Also, when I uploaded the image of the back cover of his book, it got displayed as upside down. Is there anyway I can replace it with the correct image?

page submission/review

Hi, I added 4 new sources to the page (independent and reliable, with significant coverage), newspaper interviews, review, artist profile etc. Would you mind taking another look to see if thats enough? Thanks! Russki33 (talk) 01:41, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

I noted on your recent comments for the above article. Could you kindly please elaborate more on your comments: "The article needs a better lead and better formatting. "

I noted there's one sentence on formatting which I had overlooked and already corrected it but I would like to know if there's more error in formatting that might be your concern.

I also don't understand on the term "better lead" in which you had mentioned. In what aspects of leading that could be improved for this article?

Thank you for your assistance.

alexandre naoumenko page creation

Hello!

I got your message about adding reference numbers to show what info in the text they back up. But they don't really back up a specific information, they are just interviews, reviews and press releases. I noticed pages for other artists have an "External Links" section wherre this kind of information is put, should I create an "external links" section to put these references in? Thanks for your help and feedback! Russki33 (talk) 10:37, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

question for sbcountyda page

Thank you for your recent comments regarding the San Bernardino County District Attorney page. I agree with the mission statement and will take it out. As for the list of District Attorneys, if there is no online source and this is given to me by the actual institution on a piece of paper how to I cite that? I also noticed that the Los Angeles District Attorney page and a few other similar pages don't have a citation in respect to their previous DA's, but I still would like to cite if possible. Thanks again!

Karl Eitel

You claim: "Redirects never need categories as they are not articles but merely redirects". The article Eitel Brothers to which is redirected concerns 4 brothers and their hotels and restaurants in Chicago. It would not be reasonable to split this article into four. Therefore, I think it is necessary in this case to make an exception. -- Gerd Leibrock (talk) 05:56, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I am very thankful to you for giving your honest and kind opinion on the article submitted by me. I am new to wikipedia and am unknown about a large number of policies and rules that wikipedia has implemented in relation to AFC.

Can you kindly explain me in an easy to understand language as to what mistakes I did while creating and submitting my article to AFC. I will go through all of them and make necessary edits as informed by you.

I would be very thankful to you for your kind co-operation.

Yankee Pasha

Hello,

The reason for my entry was that there already existed an entry for the film which was based on this novel. For the entry on the film, I added that the film is based on an existing novels so it's only logical that both versions (i.e. the novel and the film) exist as separate entries in Wikipedia. I will try to add the plot of the book at the first occasion posible however I believe this entry should be added to Wikipedia in its current version. The additions can be made later.

Consequently, I request you to re-consider my submission as it is for the time being.

Best Regards

You tagged this article for G12 deletion and then removed it when you noticed the source was GFDL licensed. You should be aware that we haven't been able to accept GFDL-only licensed material since November 2008, it now has to be CC-BY-SA compatible (you can read Wikipedia:Licensing update if you're interested in all of the gory details), so it actually would generally be subject to G12 and there's even a {{Db-gfdl}} for that purpose.

Now in this case there's an extra twist in that Wikibin is host to articles deleted from Wikipedia, so it wouldn't actually be a copyright infringement if we found and restored the appropriate article history for attribution. Of course usually such articles were deleted for good reasons and aren't improved before they're reposted, and so (like I just did for this article) are often deletable under G4 instead.

Anyways, cheers! VernoWhitney (talk) 03:33, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re your message: I deleted it, though it doesn't really fall under any of the CSD categories. Declining and clearing it probably would have sufficed. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:19, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You very reasonably declined this yesterday; it has now been inserted nevertheless, as is any editor's right. Your choice about how to follow up: urge continued editing & follow it up, or AfD. We noticed though that when you edited Bhoksa, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ramnagar (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). reliable sources -touchstorm

Hi David,

While we foresee http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Touchstorm being expanded on and substantiated along the way once approved and posted, we hope you can help expound upon your initial feedback to help get it there. For the information contained in the post (fairly short in proportion to the independent and reliable references provided) we received the response that the post on Touchstorm is non notable. Why are the following media outlets not considered reliable sources? AdAge, Chief Marketer, Beet.TV, Inc. Magazine (in which Touchstorm was named in the top 500 list for 2012), Benzinga, MediaPost, Website Magazine and iMedia Connection. All are independent, notable, verifiable outlets. Did the declined response given mean more than just the amount or notability of sources? Any additional detail is much appreciated.

I look forward to hearing more and understanding what exactly we can do to improve this post for a company that has been noted in top industry trade media (as well as top tier business outlet Inc. Magazine) and works with such well known brands.

Thank you.---- — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kyracyphers (talkcontribs) 02:33, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mounif Nehmeh

Hello SwisterTwister,

I wanted to bump you about the page "Mounif Nehmeh". You asked for reliable sources from its beginning on and kept doing so after my first revision request. I've been adding stuff ever since... It's not easy, yet, as he's rather starting to get known in the West, although he already did make a name for himself in Middle East. ;)

Could you have another look at it? Do you think there are enough sources, references and web links to delete the notability notice?

Thanks a lot and bye!

Pages for speedy deletion

Could you please review the pages that were put up for speedy deletion. These pages that were deleted I do not agree should have been deleted. I understand hat you had not deleted them but Altered Walter has gone on break. Also if there was a problem then why were they not flagged to be corrected.

He states that they were selected for speedy deletion for reasons:

unambiguous advertising - These are genuine events that are in the City of Brantford. No advertising was stated just facts of information on event. I looked at many other events listed on wiki and followed there writing of events.

Copyright infringement - I was given permission to lace this information on wiki by it's owners, so it cannot be Copyright infringement.

Please advise and help as this is frustrating.

As you have said on my talk page, all you have are "suggestions " and your personal interpretation based on nominations, but no one actually making the specific claim. Just state that actual facts as they can be specifically sourced. Its policy. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 04:03, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

and I have no issues with adding straightforward facts that require no analysis or make no claims other than what is specifically stated in the sources. But you are suggesting that we go beyond what the sources actually state and insert into the article claims and analysis that are not actually part of the published content. (she only has one TV role which was more than a bit part so that means she must be known for that role) That is something that policy specifically prohibits. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 05:32, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect section title

You edited the title of "Gary Schwartz (mobile)" to [Gary Schwartz (designer)].

Gary is not a designer and this title is confusing to the industry. Gary is a mobile commerce thought leader. Can you possibly revert the title or change to "Gary Schwartz (Mobile Marketing & Commerce)"

Thank you so much for your help on this clarification. kitwezambia

No I will not because both "Mobile" and "Mobile Marketing & Commerce" are equally confusing. Titles should indicate the person's occupation such as "(politician)" or "(musician)". I think it always helps to search for helpful sources before nominating as it may prevent mistakes (other users may find sources and question the nominator's interpretation of Wikipedia:BEFORE). Searching for sources before nominating and listing these results in your nomination shows that you took the care of trying to improve the article. One of the most detailed and successful nominations I have done is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Historical Black Press Foundation. Although searching may seem like a lot of work, it can have benefits. I recently saved some articles including Max Cooper (electronica musician), Emma Degerstedt, Waacking and Woolrich. As for Punkcast, I understand why you thought it read like an advertisement and I agree the article talks quite a bit about him rather than more about the company. I'll search later and try to improve the article if I find any good sources. SwisterTwister talk 22:08, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that you recently closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jacob Lusk and I ask you to reconsider your close. This discussion is not the type of discussion that should be closed by a non-admin per Wikipedia:Non-admin closure since there was contentious debate by the editors with arguments on both sides based on notability guidelines that the article passed or did not pass WP:MUSICBIO and WP:GNG. The fact that three editors, including two admins, relisted the debate probably based on a lack of consensus to close and that there were no additional comments after the last two relistings, shows that there was still no consensus. Your closing summary also seems to consist of a WP:SUPERVOTE, with negating one's sides guideline-based arguments and redirect is not the only appropriate option, when if this was your opinion in an AfD with no clear consensus, you should have simply stated your vote and waited for an admin to close the discussion. What I am then asking for you to do is reverse your redirect, reverse your closure, move your closure statement to a redirect comment, undo the archived debate and wait for an admin to close the discussion. Hi, I am the one that created the article and am working to find the "third Party" verification you are looking for. It does exist. Some of the obscurity is because of the way the Christian Market works, but it can be verified. Please allow me some time to gather the information needed as I am a bit new to this format and the requirements. I did add his discography which can certainly be verified by the record companies with which he recorded both in news cycles and in third party validation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lee Karnbach (talkcontribs) 13:23, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
