Hi Severo. Thanks for explaining but I still believe but by categorising it under Category:Cycle racing in the United Kingdom may give the reader the impression that Gibraltar is a part of the UK, which it is not. I'm open to discussion. Perhaps Category:Regional bodies of British Cycling would be more suitable? Cheers, --Gibmetal 77talk 2 me 21:03, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- I agree, tough one. The Isle of Man and Gibraltar are in the same boat on this one - cyclists for both would and do compete (except at the Commonwealths) for Great Britain; events are ultimately sanctioned by British Cycling etc. We have a Category:Sport in British dependencies - how about something like Category:Cycle racing in British dependencies? We might categorise under Category:Cycle racing in the United Kingdom but it should be clear enough to indicate Gibraltar is not part of the UK? Severo (talk) 21:48, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for hearing me out, it doesn't happen too often on Wiki these days! Gibraltar is technically a British Overseas Territory so I'd be happy with Category:Cycle racing in British Overseas Territories. However, this could not include the Isle of Man which is of course a Crown dependency... Sorry I'm pedantic by nature! :) --Gibmetal 77talk 2 me 12:48, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
- A good example of WP:BRD this! I think there's a case for renaming Category:Sport in British dependencies to Category:Sport in British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies as it's a subcategory of Category:British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies (and would match other categories) and if we did that I'd be happy with renaming any sport subcategory thereafter in the same way. I think it would be best to keep the by sport element on this double level although there wouldn't be any problem in also having categories such as Category:Sport in British Overseas Territories and Category:Sport in Crown Dependencies (there's issues with this naming as the category naming in Category:Crown dependencies is all over the place and I will take that to Categories for discussion to get some uniformity). What do you think? Severo (talk) 17:25, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • January 2014 • Issue II
For our freedom and yours Welcome to the second issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper). Our Project has been operational since 1 June, 2005, and also serves as the Poland-related Wikipedia notice board. I highly recommend watchlisting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions. We hope you will join us in them, if you haven't done so already! Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; we get close to a hundred discussion threads each year and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised. Last year we were featured in the Signpost, and our interviewer was amazed at our activity. In the end, however, even as active as we are, we are just a tiny group - you can easily become one of our core members! In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:
This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!
It took me three years to finish this issue. Feel free to help out getting the next one before 2017 by being more active in WikiProject management :) You have received this newsletter because you are listed as a member at WikiProject Poland. |
"Jan" Maas
You changed the page "Jan" Maas back to Johannes Maas. In racing circles he was know as Jan, which is the common nickname for Johannes. Please document that he was know as Johannes before you change the page again. รัก-ไทย (talk) 13:19, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
