Population of Beltchley

How did you define Bletchley for population, since that (I think) is collected at Parish level. I don't think you can just add West Bletchley and Bletchley and Fenny Stratford. --Concrete Cowboy 23:13, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

MKiObservatory is a good citation. You might need a footnote to say you define Bletchley to be contained by the A421, the southern city boundary and the A5, excluding Fenny Stratford. (Or the combined parishes of West Bletchley and Bletchley and Fenny Stratford, excluding Fenny but that sounds pathetic). Yes, very arbitrary. That's why I asked, and why I think it is important that you state what it is that you are counting. If you were very picky, you could define it just as Old Bletchley (a suburb of Fenny Stratford - Queensway used to be Bletchley Road, Fenny!). The "Plan for Milton Keynes" (1971) gives the population of Bletchley then as 30,000 [from memory - needs checking if it matters.] --Concrete Cowboy 00:02, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Diacritics

Hi. I couldn't help but notice your minor and careful edits on several pages (which I had on my watchlist): it is rare to see an Anglo-Saxon so welcoming and understanding of diacritics. Coming from a "diacritical" language/alphabet/culture, I feel obliged to thank you.; your edits are a sight for sore eyes (considering the sheer number of users who claim that diacritics "should not be featured on an English-language encyclopaedia" etc.). Hi, thanks for your edit. I appreciate, every change made by Wikipedians makes articles batter. Though, this article still needs a lot of work, probably mainly in the style department:) but hey, this is the disadvantage of not having English as a first language:> However, one thing you corrected, raised my eyebrow:) Polish title of the Festiwal Kultura dla Tolerancji w Krakowie is correct, and it cannot be "w Krakówie". I'll explain. Polish language is stuffed with irregularities; and nouns undergo declension, like in Latin or German:

nominative case (who? what?): PL: Kraków, EN: Kraków
genitive (to whom? to what?): PL: Krakowowi EN: to Kraków
dative (of who? of what?): PL: Krakowa EN: of Kraków
accusative (whom? what?): PL: Kraków EN: Kraków
instrumental (with whom? with what?): PL: z Krakowem EN: with Kraków
locative (in/about who? in/about what?) PL: w/o Krakowie EN: in/about Kraków
vocative (oh!) PL: o, Krakowie! EN: oh, Kraków!

Predictor-Lotto

Robbie McEwen's page has the team named as Lotto-Domo from 2002, and in 2001 there was a team called Domo-Farm Frites, so that might be the name before Lotto-Domo. kju 00:06, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I've added more specific reference to Monarch passenger numbers at Manchester. Source is a printed annual booklet issued by the airport management and circulated to interested parties including airlines. No ISBN number is quoted, unfortunately!

Thanks for your Wikipedia message. You are quite right to 'quality check' info on WP - I'm currently in some dispute re another charter airline's WP site, where I think there's an obvious 'anonymous plugger' for the operator, who will not accept some honest facts I've contributed.

Back to Monarch ..

I've got the relevant publication for 2005 in my hand as I type ... It's published each year by Manchester Airport and is titled 'Traffic Statistics Report 200x' - in this case 2005. It contains 28 pages and is nicely printed using photo cover and coloured bar charts etc. Unfortunately no ISBN - I guess that is because it's not intended for public sale.

The publication is widely circulated to the airlines, airport staff, the airport's eleven controlling local authorities and other interested parties. I get a copy each year through a contact in the airport's management, and write a four-page honest commentary for a local aviation magazine with a circulation of around 2000 interested readers. Have never had any negative feedback from readers or management. That's because, like yourself, I do try to be both fair and objective in my writings.

If you are in the UK I could copy and 'snail mail' relevant pages to you.

Thanks for your WP message.

The report is published by Manchester Airport Plc. No author stated. No date stated - but approx June 2006 - it took a while to be issued after the end of 2005! Pages 11 and 16 give the relevant passenger statistics for Monarch's scheduled and charter flights. Also for the other airlines using MAN - hence I could prepare a 'league table' using this info. Monarch's total pax rose to 1.72 million in 2005 - an increase of 10.6%, compared with 5.3% for total MAN passengers that year - so they outpaced the average.

I have never worked for, or been associated with, any airline. I therefore have no 'axe to grind' and can therefore keep a detached and analytical stance!

I'm new to Wikipedia (3 months) and am still 'learning the ropes' from such experienced operators as yourself !

Nice work on the Denbigh Stadium page!

I have kept an eye on this page for a while and was thinking only the other day that it's about time a newer more up to date picture was added. I hadn't bothered though because of the grief I got when I added the aerial shot of the build (There was an assumption that the pic I added was copyright protected when in fact I had obtained the author's permission, I just hadn't found the right tag to say so). Those pics are far more up to date. Do you think it's cool if I re-add my original one under yours on the left hand side though, as I think it's a nice one to have? Logo source information

Please explain what you mean by information 'source'. I've just checked a selection of logos of large corporates that are on WP, and there is no source information on any of them. They pretty obviously orginated at that organisation. Mauls 23:50, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

All the logos have been cleaned up in Photoshop by myself, as shown in the metadata, therefore a URL can't be given. Also, I still fail to see any examples of where this has been done for other logos, including very prominent organisations. Mauls 00:00, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Menchov versus Menshov

Hi, I am not regularly online on this Wikipedia, but I saw you reverted the move of Menchov/Menshov. The Russian name is with ш, when transcripted to English, that means Menshov. Just because I was used to the English (Menchov) and Dutch transcription (Mentsjov), I thought his name was with a "ch", the letter ч. I moved the Dutch page to Mentsjov consistent with the English spelling Menchov. However, this is not right. The guy is called Menshov and that's why I changed the name. Question on GA review

I generally frown upon listing things in the article. It is not inappropriate to have some mention of his most important victories. Those can and should be included. The section as is, is just a bit of an overkill. I definitely think it needs a new a title unless the current title is used by the racing world, in which case it should be properly explained. Thanks for all your hard work on the article so far, it has great potential, good luck and I hope that answers your question. Track cycling

A good starting point might be memoire-du-cyclisme.net, selecting the 'Piste' option from the menu. I'm not sure how complete it is, but it includes championships, 6 days and major GPs.
