Hasilpur (Punjabi,Template:Lang-ur), is a city in Bahawalpur District in southern Punjab, Pakistan. The city is located between the Satluj River and the Indian border and lies 96 km east of the district capital Bahawalpur. The city is also the headquarters of Hasilpur Tehsil an administrative subdivision of the district. The city itself is divided into to two parts, "Old Hasilpur" and "Hasilpur Mandi". Hasilpur is situated at the brink of Cholistan desert.
History
Hasilpur is as old as Bahawalpur. A Dawod potra by named Jogi Khan Ghumrani's son Hasil Khan settled the city with his own name in 1752. Hasil Khan built a mosque in 1768. In 1900 there were about 347 houses. A special rest house (Dolat Khana) for the Nawab of Bahawalpur Mohammad Sadiq Khan was also here.
Language
The people of Hasilpur speak mainly Punjabi dialects Majhi, Riasti and Baagri (See the map). Castes include Arain, Jatt, Malik, Mahr, Syed and many more. The total population of the Tehsil is 317,513 and its total area is 239,332. It consists of 112 villages and 14 Union Councils.
Demography
According to official figures, the population of Hasilpur in 1998 was 312,132 with 38,568 households (10,625 were in urban areas and 36,961 in rural). According to government figures, there are eight hospitals in Hasilpur. One of these is government-run and the others are private. The total number of beds in these hospitals is 142. Apart from this, 19 private clinics are also registered with government. There are 30 cotton ginning, 2 vegetable ghee, 22 brick kilns, 3 wheat milling and 33 other small and large industries in Hasilpur. A huge part of the population relies on agriculture directly or indirectly. Labour and retail are two of the largest employment industries.
Important roads and corners (chowk)
- Club Road: Private Hospitals are situated here.
- Darbar Road: This road is the backbone of the city, starting from Katchehri to Darbar chowk. It divides the residential zone into left and right zones.
- Railway Road: Houses a large market of karyana (raw items), stores, iron-smiths and carpenters.
- Missile chowk: Where most of the bus stations are located.
- Katchehri chowk: Courts, stamp dealers, photocopier shops and motorcycle workshops are in this area.
- Baldia chowk: TMA Hasilpur and market is located here.
- Main bazar fawara chowk: Carts containing Gol Gappas, Falooda, Doodh rabbri, burger shami, Dahi bhallay, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Most of jewelers are also around this chowk.
- Anarkali chowk: Embroidery, garments as well as cosmetic shops are here.
- Jangi chowk: It is well known for its shami-burgers, Halwa-poori and Dahi Bhallay.
- Raja chowk: It is where the market ends and residential area starts as one moves west. Naan Channay, Sweet Shops and Gas Stoves market are found here.
- Darbar chowk: Data Darbar(Rangeela Shah Darbar) is located here. It is where many rickshaws' route starts till Bus stations(Missile chowk).
Geography
Hasilpur is a city in the province of Punjab, Pakistan. It is situated between the Indian border and Satluj river in east central Punjab. On a world map, its position is N 29"41'37.926" E 72"33'01.617". Hasilpur occupies 1372 km2 area, including city and 115 surrounding villages, towns, housing schemes and colonies.

Climate
The climate is somewhat extreme, depicting the influence of deserts surrounding the city. Gusts of sand are often risen and can fade the atmosphere in the form of "andheri" or "aandhi". Rains is rare outside of monsoon season. Regardless, all four seasons are present. Region temperatures can reach 50°C in summer and can touch down to 2°C in winter.
Climatically, two major seasons of importance are:
- Hot weather (April to October) when temperature rises as high as 45-50°C.
- Mild weather (November to March). Temperature goes down as low as 2-5°C.
Cityscape
The city is basically established on vast deserts (that end up in India in South). However with hotels and restaurants featuring both traditional and Chinese cuisines food can be enjoyed here.

- Allama Iqbal Park: This park is inside the city and presents very open greenery of grassy plots. The park is visited by the public everyday. There are separate timings for females and males in the park, making the atmosphere comfortable for ladies in the park.
- Head Islam: Head Islam is a kind of dam against river Satluj and is located at about 15 km from city in the North. Fishing is a source of income for nearby people and is part of food for visitors when they come for parties and picnics. Boating is also available.
- Swimming pools: The true flavors of swimming are well enjoyed in summers. The city climate (mostly hot and dry) makes the swimming experience very loving, soothing and enjoyable. Economy
Hasilpur is the major hub of cotton factories in the region, with almost 60 cotton factories. Other industries like floor mills, oil mills and door making are also found. The main crops are cotton, sugarcane, indigo and wheat. Sheep and cattle are raised for food and hides. In 2006, the government sanctioned gas supply to the city.

Fashion
Fashion and beauty are routine concerns, but these services carry additional significane before special events like weddings. The people of Hasilpur wear simple dress like shalwar kurta. some people also wear pent shirt like students. Mostly wedding cermonies are arranged in Shadi Halls, There are many shadi haals in Hasil pur.
Arts
Embroidery works are among the most well-known works of art in the area. All sorts of ribbons, laces, pearls and embroidery designs can be found. Some of the hubs for such tasks are located in Anarkali bazar. Reet Rawaaj, Singhar Zarri House and Rasam Rawaj are shops to buy raw items for dressing needs. For embroidery works, there is a narrow street near Govt. High School for girls.
Sports
Cricket, hockey, football: Kabaddi, Gulli-danda, Pitthoo Garam, Aam Aam and Bandar-killa are some of known sports here in the locals.Hasilpur Has got a very beautiful Cricket Stadium which is situated at Bahawalpur road.

Located amongst well-known cities like Chishtian, Haroonabad, Bahawalnagar, Vehari and Bahawalpur, Hasilpur is connected to these areas by both roads and railways. Chistian-Hasilpur-Bahawalpur Road is the historical pathway for major trading professionals. Hasilpur is also connected with 2 Lane Road. chunawala Road is also important in trade and in connecting the frame to the Grain Market of Hasilpur. Talhar Road is also important because it connects the industries of western Hasilpur.
Public transport
To facilitate public transportation, at least three bus stations (including Rohi Flying Coach Service, Chaudary Flying Coach and Al-Madina Bus Service) have been established at the hub-point Missile Chowk(junction of main roads to Vehari, Chishtian, Bahawalpur). More are under development. All of these bus terminals provide services to major cities like Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Faisalabad and Multan. They provide seven seated APVs as well as 14 seated Indus Cars (also known as high roofs). Air conditioned buses are abundant including Power Intl., Niazi Bus Service and Skyways.
