I have had my account for quite a while now, way longer than 4 days, but I do not spend much time editing articles, nor do I intend to start doing so. I wanted to post a picture to the existing page for my great great great grandfather (Benjamin Ferris 1780-1867), but since my account is unconfirmed, it would not allow it. I do not see the point of uploading the picture to the Commons, I do not know that that action will get the photo into the right place. Should I just go around making random edits to get me across the threshold of ten edits to get auto-confirmed? Zardoz.RAF (talk) 18:22, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - If the file you want to upload is available under a free license, it should be uploaded to our free media repository, the Commons. You do not need any special permissions to upload there, and you can use the same username and password you use here. If it is not available under a free license, it should be requested using the Files for Upload process, which does not require any special permissions. Hello, I recently made an account with wikipedia to be able to edit pages I think need more imput. But after confirming my account today through my email, I was still locked out from editing due to this semiprotected page. I hope this page wil open so I can edit. Anything you can do for me? I have information and sources for this page edit. Please and thank you for helping in advanced!! David_lim_it (talk) 12:58, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not done - Hi, and thank you for creating an account to edit Wikipedia. Although I fully understand your desire to dive right in, many of our articles are semi-protected because they are controversial, prone to vandalism, or other reasons. As a new editor with few edits, it might be wise to discuss your edits on the article talkpage in order to gain consensus for your edits, and then use {{Edit semi-protected}} to request the edit be performed. I only recommend this until you're used to the challenges of reliable sources, the biographies of living persons policy, and other similar policies. The good news is that fewer than 5% of Wikipedia articles are protected; this means that 95% of the articles can use your help right now! Armbrust The Homunculus 00:17, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In reference to the 'official' language of England. As researched and mentioned on QI (popular British television programme)'English is an official language in many countries including Wales and India, and Canada but not in England (Forfeit) since there was never a need to set one up.' I know its only a minor fact to issue but I believe people should know this. It's very odd.... and so very British. Mineofuselessness (talk) 13:06, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done, especially because your reason is apparently for publicity purposes, and Wikipedia is never to be used for publicity purposes. You also have a conflict of interest because you are associated with the subject of the article. Read WP:COI for further guidance, and try using WP:AFC to submit your article for review. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:34, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. You don't need confirmation permission for any of those things. You can make minor corrections (spelling, grammar, numbers, names) to the article, but for anything more substantive, you should propose your changes on the article talk page in accordance with the guideline Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. If you can release images under a free license, you can upload them to http://commons.wikimedia.org without special permissions. Otherwise see Wikipedia:Files for upload, which also needs no permission. ~Amatulić (talk) 16:06, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. •  Not done Although you've been here for some time, you appear to have had significant issues following the policies and processes on Wikipeda - even with the submission of this request. I'm not at all confident that you're fully cognizant of WP:COPYRIGHT and our image use policies. As such, I've left you significant info in a Welcome message on your talkpage. Please follow that advice ES&L 16:54, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
So I registered this account going on four years ago now, I use wikipedia a lot, even if I don't make many edits. I don't think I'm quite at ten edits yet, but there's a quality edit I'd like to make involving adding a picture. It'd be nice to not have to run around and make silly edits just to get my edit count high enough to upload a picture. Xbacklit (talk) 05:02, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
