DK is an upcoming Indian Kannada Satirical film directed by Vijay Kampali, formerly known as Udaya Prakash, who directed films such as Kalla Malla Sulla and Auto Raja.[1] Produced by actress Rakshita, the film stars Prem and Chaitra Chandranath in the lead roles. Actress Sunny Leone features in a special item song Sesamma, which will mark her Kannada film debut.[2][3] The film's score and soundtrack is composed by Arjun Janya. The film is the first Kannada film to feature 7.1 surround sound.[4]

Production

Development

Director Udaya Prakash rechristened himself as Vijay Kampali before beginning this venture. He approached director-actor Prem to feature in this satirical comedy subject. The film was earlier said to be based on the real life of Karnataka politician D. K Shivakumar.[5] However the makers refused the statement and claimed the story to be original and not inspired by any person or any other film. Prem had to shed his weight in preparation for the role. Chaitra Chandranath, who could not take off her career with her debut film Viraat being shelved, was considered to play the lead female role in the film.[6] The filming took place extensively in Mysore.[7]

Cast

  • Prem
  • Chaitra Chandranath
  • Rishikumara Swamy
  • Sunny Leone Special appearance in an item song.

Music

Anand Audio bought the audio rights of the film for about 25Lakhs.[8] Music composer Arjun Janya has worked on the songs for the film. The folk song "Seshamma Seshamma" features the actress Sunny Leone in a special appearance. Another song titled as "India Pakistan Ondagoythu" which also featured the names of Modi, Sonia, M. Karunanidhi and J. Jayalalithaa and their relationships was turned down by four reputed playback singers due to the controversial lines until singer Hemanth recorded the song finally.[9]
