Digimon Adventure tri. (デジモンアドベンチャーtri., Dejimon Adobenchā Torai) is a 2015 Japanese Action-Adventure anime series produced by Toei Animation. It is the seventh television anime series in Akiyoshi Hongo's Digimon franchise, serving as the second direct sequel to the original 1999 series, Digimon Adventure, following Digimon Adventure 02, and celebrates the anime franchise's 15th anniversary. The is set to air in April 2015.[1]

The series is set approximately six years after the events of Digimon Adventure, three years after Digimon Adventure 02. Taichi Yagami is now 17 and attending high school, when he and his friends, the Chosen Children group who saved the Digital World in August 1999, reunite with their Digimon partners to once more protect the Digital World from evil.

Development

The new series was first announced at a Digimon Adventure 15th anniversary event on August 1, 2014.[2] Basic story details were announced on September 7, 2014, after enough fans participated in a game on the official website.[3] On December 13, 2014, Toei announced the series full title and staff. The series is being directed by Keitaro Motonaga (Date A Live) with scripts by Yuuko Kakihara (Persona 4: The Animation, Jewelpet Sunshine) and character design by Atsuya Uki (Tsuritama).[4] The series will feature the returning cast of all eight main Digimon partners from the original series. Likewise, artists Kouji Wada and Ayumi Miyazaki return to perform the respective opening and insert themes, "Butter-Fly" and "Brave Heart".[5]
