Reliable source problem
The Accidental Billionaires is not an accurate source for information, and the information that is in it shouldn't be used to write this article. 98.194.34.45 (talk) 16:25, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Birthdate
Eduardo is 28 year's old, not 26 - please note the age displayed in the Forbes 400 list: http://www.forbes.com/2010/10/06/americas-youngest-billionaires-business-young-billionaires.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by Polar1234 (talk • contribs) 08:03, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Eduardo was born on March 19, 1982 - previous birthdate is incorrect. Please note age in his official Facebook Profile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Polar12345 (talk • contribs) 15:15, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
- As I note below, the Facebook page cannot be considered an "official" website because it can't be verified that it's his. I also don't see on it his birthdate, but that's immaterial. Searching with Google turns up different sources saying he was born on March 13 and others saying he was born on March 19. None of them is a reliable source. Therefore, I'm going to remove the birthdate entirely until a reliable source can be found. If you have a problem with that, you can do one of two things. You can go to WP:RSN and see if you can obtain a consensus that the Facebook page is a reliable source, or you can try to obtain a consensus here.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:09, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
From Eduardo's Facebook...February 5
Happy birthday Facebook! Happy Birthday!
Today marks the 9th year anniversary of when we first launched at Harvard University. What is your favorite memory of Facebook in these last nine years?
Of course it's his profile. Thismightbezach (talk) 01:42, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

Share Devaluation
The share devaluation keeps on getting changed to the values given in the film the Social Network which is a fictional story based upon a true story. Eduardo's share was one of the details changed. The movie says .03% sources I've seen and cited say 10%. -Vcelloho (talk) 00:38, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
According to http://www.chasingthefrog.com/reelfaces/thesocialnetwork.php, which cites the Facebook Effect, the .03% number is false. This should be replaced by about 10%. --192.114.107.4 (talk) 12:11, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
you are right, i have changed it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.22.43.44 (talk) 21:53, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- I've just changed it back to 10% from 0.05%. I notice that the reference for this figure has changed since I last looked at this page from a web based one to something I assume is sourced off-line. TehGrauniad (talk) 15:23, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, I see it is a web based citation, the website quoted (learnvest.com) suggests that Eduardo Saverin currently owns roughly 5% of Facebook, which supports the figure given in the Wikipedia entry's opening paragraph. However, this figure relates to now (or late 2010), but the paragraph in question is talking about how much of Facebook Saverin owned before he sued Mark Zuckerberg in April 2005. TehGrauniad (talk) 15:34, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Folks. First off please read WP:BLP. Second, the number of shares Saverin owns is not public information, it was settled in a private lawsuit. The 5% figure was arrived at by journalist Allison Kade in this barely-reliable article in a non-mainstream news source. She says in the comments section her figures are "speculative". At best we can mention it in that context, but we have no idea how many shares he owns, if any at all. And obviously the movie figure of 0.03% is completely unreliable since the movie is a fictionalized account, not a reliable source. Green Cardamom (talk) 03:01, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- --The movie is based on the book accidental billionares; the movie is said to be fiction by eduardo, but the book, which helped write is not disputed -- so the movie may be accurate via the book except for some fictional license. (Cocaine and nubile prostitution seem accurate, but eduardo didn't partake.)
- Also, if you sat through the credits, you would have seen that eduardo got an undisclosed sum and was returned to the masthead of FB as a founder. This implies that he got his full share back. The more I learn about FB, the less I want to use it. It is not a sophisticated app, just a big one with a lot of advertising and javascript; in fact, I think the age of the app has passed, and that the FB billions would look really nice in the revenue collection plate.--John Bessa (talk) 13:15, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hello Green Cardamom. Thanks you for your input on this article. The source you’re referring to is cited twice in the article (it’s reference 4 and 11). The author of this LearnVest.com article has made a pie chart that is based on two articles; one in the UK national newspaper the Guardian, the other in the New York based Wall Street Journal.
- I don’t see the problem with including this information in the article, however, if you believe that we have acted against Wikipedia:BLP please feel free to make changes to the article, no one should have a problem with you doing this. TehGrauniad (talk) 14:37, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- It is less than 5%. Otherwise, the S-1 filing would have listed him as a principal stakeholder. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.207.84.196 (talk) 08:38, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Date of loss of citizenship
It is not possible that Saverin renounced in May 2012. May was when his renunciation was reported in the mainstream media. His name was listed in the Federal Register in April. His name being published in April means that the IRS received confirmation of his loss of nationality from the Department of State sometime between January and March ("This notice is provided in accordance with IRC section 6039G of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) of 1996, as amended. This listing contains the name of each individual losing United States citizenship (within the meaning of section 877(a) or 877A) with respect to whom the Secretary received information during the quarter ending March 31, 2012.").
The Department of State, being a giant bureaucracy, takes some time before it gives the names to the IRS. It is not an instant process. However, loss of nationality takes effect from the date of the oath of renunciation, not from the date of publication in the Federal Register. See for example the case of Lin Ruey-hsiung, who renounced in November. His name did not show up in the Federal Register until April 30 either, but he still had his Certificate of Loss of Nationality in hand far before that and was able to run for vice-president in the Republic of China presidential election, 2012. We can't know exactly when Saverin renounced without seeing his CLN, but I don't see any reason to doubt the September date that his spokesman mentioned to Bloomberg. quant18 (talk) 15:21, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- I agree, my apologies, I should have been more careful. Thanks for restoring it.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:27, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- No problem and thanks for tightening up my prose in the article. As you can see I tend towards loquacity :) quant18 (talk) 15:35, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- Heh, as your post above - you could've just pointed out the spokesman sentence in the source, and I would have been fine. Not that the detailed explanation wasn't interesting.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:39, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback - www.facebook.com/saverin is in fact an official page - please note that the page was created on February 5, 2004 (site was first made publicly available for use on 4, 2004, and only to Harvard.edu registered email address holders). Note that the profile also lists "Harvard" as a network, which can only be authenticated with a valid .edu Harvard Address. Additionally, note the 1.5 million + followers. You can view this as publicly accessible by clicking the 2004 button in the timeline. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Polar12345 (talk • contribs) 12:29, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- I don't see the material you see, but putting that aside, as I said about another of your edits, the burden is on you to establish consensus, which you haven't done. Rather than battle you over it, I've started a topic at WP:RSN.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:43, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
