Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 04:02, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Yolandi Visser. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it.
Your edit here to Yolandi Visser was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.facebook.com/groups/Die.Antwoord.World.Wide.Fans/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. I will try to help

Please, all, calm down. Let's discuss things.

Please, Gene ZEF, you have a very close connection to the subject and this may be causing problems. You are trying to help improve the article, and that is good. Nobody has greater rights to the article than anyone else. I know you are trying to help. Let's please take things slowly and we can figure out how to make the article acceptable to all.

User:Serols, please, let's not give final warnings for vandalism. Gene is acting in good faith. He is new and trying to help. We must not bite. We must assume good faith. Please, discuss, not issue warnings. This can be sorted out. Let's all be patient.

Hello Anna Frodesiak, after having sought the discussion, he could´t get a warning from me. Regards --Serols (talk) 11:46, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am calm, but you have to see things from my point of view. Just learning how this board works is not as easy as you think. I have been trying diff things, I was hoping people would be more patient with me. I appreciate the candor in which this is being addressed. Anri is disappointed with how her page looks, how Ninja (Watkins) page looks and how the bands page looks, not to mention DJ Hi-Tek, He doesnt even have a wiki.

Now If I put something in the wrong place show me how or tell me that its wrong. I will comply with how things are suppose to go here. If for nothing else to get their wiki pages correct. The information I place is first hand information. I know that some of what is posted needs a citation, I dont know how to do those yet, but I will back everything up I can with "live" weblinks to the information. I am hoping to find everything I am told online, but what do I do in the case I cant back something up with a link?

I am not trying to vandalize her page I"m trying to repair and update her page and the rest of the band members. She would appreciate if you would keep information about her daughter to a minimum.

Her picture was updated by myself and then removed, I only am wanting to know what I have to do to update her picture, because the one she has is not a good representation.

Hello, my friend. I am so sorry for all of this. Wikipedia can be very frustrating. You are handling it well. Let me respond in point form:
  • Patience, as you mention, is key. If the article or its content is disputed, there is a process, and that can take a bit of time.
  • I understand that Anri is disappointed with how pages related to her look. The best plan (ask her if this is alright, even though nobody owns the article) is to strip out any content that is not supported by good sources and build from there.
  • The issues raised with her article have not been about content being in the right place. They have been about the content itself (whether or not it is appropriate for the article), and the sources (whether or not they are reliable.)
  • "First hand information", if supported by unreliable or no sources, cannot be added to the article. Even information that she provides herself through, say, a magazine interview, is less preferred than secondary sources.
  • You may be surprised to hear this: I know what you are adding to the article is truth. Wikipedia is not about truth. Wikipedia is about verifiability. Few know this, but it is true. :)
  • We care a gread deal about the quality of the sources.
  • You refer to this source. Who wrote it? What do we know about the website? We need to know the content is true.
  • Any information about her daughter that does not come from a reliable source (multiple reliable sources would be best), must not be in the article, period.
  • If there is a dispute about the article content, please do not get into a cycle of undoing then someone undoes what you undid and it goes back and forth. Content may be temporarily unsatisfactory. Patience is best. It will all get sorted out.
  • The picture: Dear oh dear. It was deleted. I asked for it to be restored so that we could paste {{OTRS pending|year=2016|month=March|day=14}} to the image page. (That template says that permission is coming via email and so the image should not be deleted just yet.) I woke up this morning and the image had been deleted for a second time. I am sorry to say that it needs to be uploaded again by you and then immediately you should paste {{OTRS pending|year=2016|month=March|day=14}} on it.
  • I am here to answer further questions, although I am having a few problems with my Internet connection. Don't worry. Others are here watching and can help too. Again, thank you for being so patient.
Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:53, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Actually.... please do not upload the file again. Please see the bottom of the above section: User talk:Gene ZEF#OTRS. Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:48, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

About a citation

I have pasted the following here from Gene ZEF's userpage:

Can anyone see this message?

I can. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:24, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anna.. i see they want a citation for Anri being adopted.. hers a link to an article she did where she told the interviewer she was adopted.

http://bijog.com/biography/yolandi-visser

I will, in good faith, blank this and paste it to your Wikipedia talk page. That is where this discussion should take place. I hope that is okay. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:59, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have just pasted this here from https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Gene_ZEF. Now I will respond:
We must examine the source itself first of all. Who wrote the article? How does this website work. How do we know the website or content is a reliable source? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:59, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I see this. I do not think the source is reliable. We know nothing about that website and anybody could have written the article. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:05, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting

Ww don't do "singer/actress" we do "singer, actress", with the occupations listed by which is primary, secondary etc. Please take it that when other editors change the article, they are bringing it in line with Wikipedia's standards, and do not change it back. Similarly, we don't do "Born:...", we do what's in the article.

Since you admittedly don't know much about how we do things, you'd be best off making factual changes, but, actually, since you have an obvious conflict of interest (please read that page), you shouldn't edit the article at all, instead, make suggestions for changes on the talk page and let other non-conflicted editors deal with it.
