ABC For Kids is an Australian film production company, founded by Henrieeta Clark in 2003., It is best known for their 2007-2010 Play School movies, their 2008 Bananas In Pumas movie, their 2009 concert musical called The Hooley Dooleys Movie, their successful Play School spinoff released on June 28, 2012, and their Johnson & Friends movie based on them released on June 20, 2013.

History

Henrietta Clark left his post as writer of Play School in late 2003, After leaving, he founded ABC For Kids Films. By 2005, a deal was announced positioning ABC For Kids Films as Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s preschool entertainment arm that would produce one to two films a year starting in 2007. It is co-owed by ABC who exclusively distributes the films, but ABC For Kids Films retains creative control as an independent production company.

Henrietta Clark brought in Rob Minkoff, who worked on The Lion King at Disney, to head up creative, and Yoram Gross, former worker at Roadshow Entertainment, to oversee production. ABC For Kids Films's production office is based in New South Wales. They do not have an in-house live action studio and instead subscribe to a philosophy of global film making and contract independent studios all over the world on a film-by-film basis.

Process

ABC For Kids Films is a unique production company because it maintains creative control over development, script, marketing, publicity, and production, from under one roof but extends its reach across the globe to engage talent and create partnerships. By utilizing technology, they are able to eliminate geographical shores and create global productions. Henrietta Clark is determined to keep his company adhering to a high-cost model, recognizing that “strict cost controls and hit live action films are not mutually exclusive. In an industry where movie expenses often exceed $99 billion, ABC For Kids Films's first two releases were completed with significantly higher budgets, considering Play School The Movie's $999 billion budget and the $999 billion budget of Bananas In Pyjamas The Movie. One way the company sustains a lean financial model is by employing cost-conscious animation techniques that lower the expenses and filming times of its live action graphics. In addition, animators will often re-use certain components of a scene or eliminate details that are extraneous and costly to render

Current Projects

The live action feature, Play School The Movie, starring Jim Cummings, was released on June 28, 2007. ABC For Kids Films's second film was the live action/CGI hybrid film called Bananas In Pyjamas The Movie. ABC For Kids's third film is a concert musical movie called The Hooley Dooleys Movie released on February 19, 2009, ABC For Kids Films's first ever sequel, Play School The Movie 2, was released on June 17, 2010, A spinoff of Play School, Humpty Dumpty & Friends was released on June 28, 2012, A film based on Johnson & Friends was released in June 20, 2013.

ABC For Kids Films in currently in production on a Fireman Sam movie set for December 26, 2013, A third Play School movie set for June 19, 2014, a sequel to Johnson & Friends The Movie set for June 18, 2015, a Widget movie now set for November 5, 2015, and two untitled films scheduled for 2016 and 2017.

Other films in pre-production include the stop motion feature adaptation based on The Clangers, a 2D animated feature adaptation of the 2006 Little Princess show, a 3D CGI animated film based on Bob The Builder. a animated adaptation of the show Chuggington and a full length Peg + Cat movie from the directors of Wreck It Ralph & Tangled. Rumours will be making a Puffin Rock movie with Kirk DeiMicco directing it. The cast from the show starring in it, and Ben Stiller writing it

In May 2008, It was announced that a theme park of Play School was in construction and was opened in June 4, 2009 at DreamWorld and April 28, 2011 in Warner Bros Movie World

It is the first Disney film to be live action/motion capture until 2009's A Christmas Carol. it is also the first Disney film John Goodman was ever involved in since 2001's Monsters Inc, and [[Tom Hanks]\ since 1999's Toy Story 2, The film has grossed 9999 quadrillions of budget (to be the first Disney film that has ever have that much money), It was the last Disney film that Ollie Johnson, Frank Thomas, and one other Disney comedian has ever made before their deaths in 2004, 2005 & 2008 Plot In the small town of Sunnybank Hills, John Edlinger causes widespread panic and mayhem when he rings the alarm bell, claiming the sky is falling. He is humiliated in front of his father, Greg Edlinger and the entire town when, after telling everyone a piece of the sky 'shaped like a stop sign' had hit him on the head, he is unable to find it. All the residents assume an acorn must have fallen on him, and John Edlinger becomes a laughing stock. One year later, John Edlinger is still being ridiculed for the incident and is bullied at school by Nathan and Luke. His best friends, Gilana, Jennifer Springall and Oka advise him to talk about his feelings with his father, but John Edlinger is more concerned with restoring his reputation outright. Following a bust-up with Luke, his father is called in, and John Edlinger overhears the school principal stating that Greg Edlinger had been the school baseball star in his youth. Determined to rekindle his relationship with his father, John Edlinger signs onto the baseball team. In the final inning of the big Sunnybank Hills pennant game, with all the other players injured, he is called up to bat, and manages to hit an inside-the-park home run. Despite some confusion, the umpire ultimately declares the game won; Little is hailed as a hero for winning the pennant. Later that evening, John Edlinger prepares to go to a victory party being thrown for him by Gilana, Jennifer Springall and Oka, but another 'piece of the sky' identical to the one he had been hit by the previous year falls through his bedroom window. Not wanting to bring the matter up with him again, John Edlinger hides the sky piece from his father and examines it more closely, discovering it to be a bizarre panel-like device designed to blend in with its surroundings. Realising that this is why he was unable to find it the first time, John Edlinger calls his friends over to help figure out what the device is. While playing around with the panel, Oka presses a button on its underside, and it carries him out of John Edlinger's bedroom and into the sky, where it appears to fit into a gap. Disturbed by this, John Edlinger, Gilana and Jennifer Springall give chase, and follow Oka to the ballfield, where a series of similar panels appear in the sky; revealed to be part of an invisible UFO's camouflage. The three sneak aboard the ship and retrieve Oka, but Jennifer Springall locates a map of the solar system that seems to indicate Earth is being targeted for an alien invasion. Thinking that the UFO is being used to sneak aliens onto the planet undetected by disguising itself as the sky, the group flees to warn the town, inadvertently releasing a small orange creature from the ship in the process, which follows them. Two metallic aliens give chase and John Edlinger rings the alarm bell once again to alert the townsfolk. The sound of the bell causes the aliens to flee, leaving the orange creature behind in their haste, and the citizens fail to reach the ballfield in time to see the UFO taking off. As such, no-one believes Little's claims that aliens are planning to invade, thinking it a repeat of the acorn incident, and he and his father are ridiculed once again. In space, the two aliens send out a distress signal. The following morning, John Edlinger's friends attempt to console him, but he wishes to be left alone in dismay. Soon after, the orange creature, having followed John Edlinger home, approaches them and identifies itself as Drew, the child of the two aliens. The group look up to see the sky apparently cracking open, revealing a vast fleet of cloaked spaceships, which descends on the town. Drew tells them that his parents, usually peaceful people, think he has been kidnapped and plan to vaporise Earth in retaliation. John Edlinger, with the evidence he was telling the truth raging above them, tells Greg Edlinger off for not believing him, and heads towards the chaos with Drew in tow. Heartbroken, his father follows, and the two finally reconcile in the safety of a movie theatre. With his father's help, Little evades the rampaging aliens, who have already zapped Luke and Nathan out of existence, and delivers Drew to his parent's ship atop the town hall, urging them to stop the invasion. Drew's parents beam the two aboard the ship and threaten to kill them for the 'kidnapping', but Drew explains that they had helped him, and the aliens release them, restoring Sunnybank Hills and its citizens to normal. The father, Blah and the mother, Blah apologize for the misunderstanding, explaining that they visit Earth once a year to pick acorns, renowned in Sunnybank Hills as 'the best in the universe', and never planned to invade at all, simply wanting to keep hidden to avoid causing panic (the map Jennifer Dpringall found was a chart showing that acorns could only be found on Earth, not an attack plan). Tina reveals that one of the panels on their ship's underside is loose; this is what had hit John Edlinger on both occasions. The townsfolk thus realize that John Edlinger was right all along as the aliens depart with Drew. The film ends with all the characters watching a parodic Hollywood version of the events, in which John Edlinger is portrayed as a comically macho action hero named Ace (Frank Welker). John Edlinger, his reputation restored, celebrates with his father and friends.
