I have been updating a page called The Bleach Boys, which catalogs the history of a punk band who have produced many very collectible records. I noticed a few days ago that the entry for members had been defaced with respect to the name of the band's long term roadie. I corrected it and saved it. I looked a bit later and it had been changed to a somewhat insulting name. I corrected it again only to find that a user listed in the log as 2a01:4c8:9:3ee9:8a1:ca12:1cf8:2 appears to have changed it again. How can I find out the identity of this person and prevent what is reletively harmless vandalism??

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page The Bleach Boys has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \bmyspace\.com (links: http://www.myspace.com/bleachboys).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Please do not just delete changes without giving a reason
I am not the most regular contibutor to Wikipedia, but I do try to obey guidelines etc. Recently, I had changes to the page Baldock removed although I have no idea why. The changes refered to a regular event known as 'Balstock' which is a charity music event featuring more than 120 artists playing for free over a September weekend and for which 100% of the profits go to charity; this years charity is the restoration of the defunct town hall. It is a notable event being Hertforshire's biggest free music festival and having survived into its 7th year.
To whom it may concern, if this is taken down aagain, please could you provide me with an explanation as to why so that I can learn how to make changes which are not subsequently removed
Thanks
Yint
Balstock music festival
Hi Yint, No problems re the issue of reverting text. Its just that settlement article sdo get bunged up with adverts which have no value to Wikipedia so their is a strict policy about deleting them as promotional or where a weblink is provided as Spamming. When including information one or more citations need to be appended to confirm the information provided. This is not a weblink to the festival web page as this is called a primary source so you should find an online or paper based media article or report wich states this. For example a news report from last year's festival
Anyway on your draft text I have made some revisions and included where a citation is needed. However if you can find one cite that includes this so much the better in whic case in can be included at the end of the paragraph.
Here is a cite template <ref>{{cite news |url= http://www.....copy from the web browser for the article... |title= ...title or heading for article as shown... |author=...Journalist name if ther eis one... |date= ...Date of format 23 August 2012....| |publisher= ....Name of newspaper or online journal etc.....}}</ref>
Balstock music festival The Balstock Festival started in 2006(?) and was originally held in one pub {or the XXXXX Pub}. It has grown to a three day event held in a number of venues across the town, and last year featured over 100 bands.{cite} It is now Hertfordshires biggest free music festival with all proceeds going to a nominated charity.{if you include this claim you will need a citation which confirms this} In 2011, that charity was the restoration of the town's 13th century St Marys church tower. {Cite}
Hope this helps, but do post me a new message if you have any other queries. Tmol42 (talk) 16:38, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
