J. Surya in the film Vaali and Kushi. The director discussed with Bollywood actress for Mahesh Babu like Sonakshi Sinha, Shraddha Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and finally Parineeti Chopra was accepted for project and which would be her Telugu debut, but later on Parineeti Chopra was replaced by Rakul Preet Singh citing date problem. Tamil actor Bharath is signed to play a negative role.[5]
