Depp began her acting career with a cameo role in Tusk, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2014.[7] She acted alongside her friend Harley Quinn Smith, her father, and the film's director Kevin Smith.[8] In April 2015, Depp posed for a photo-shoot in the Australian magazine Oyster by Dana Boulos and Maggie Silverman.[9] Depp was announced as a Chanel ambassador in September and modeled for the brand's eyewear line.[10] Depp appears with Irish rapper Rejjie Snow in his video for "All Around the World", which was released in October.[11]

Depp reprised her Tusk role in Yoga Hosers,[12] a spin-off that focuses on her and Harley Quinn Smith's characters, and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2016.[13] In May, she was announced as the face of Chanel's new fragrance No°5 L'Eau.[14] That same month, The Dancer, in which Depp plays Isadora Duncan, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard category. The film is Stéphanie Di Giusto’s directorial debut.[15] Depp and Natalie Portman co-starred in Rebecca Zlotowski’s Planetarium as two spiritualist sisters in 1930s France.[16] The film had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September.[17] Depp appeared on the front cover of British Vogue in their December issue.[18]

In February 2017, Depp starred in a campaign for Chanel's beauty line.[19] She will act opposite Laurent Lafitte in Les Fauves, a French film directed by Vincent Mariette. The film was shot in September and October of 2017.[20] Depp is set to reprise her Tusk and Yoga Hosers role in Moose Jaws.[21]

Personal life

Since Depp's birth, she has been the subject of tabloid and media reporting, including birthdays,[22][23] attendance at society events,[24] and reviews of her fashion choices.[25] She dropped out of high school in 2016 to focus on her acting career.[26] Depp has struggled with anorexia in the past and is now recovering.[27] She is fluent in both English and French.[26]

In August 2015, Depp posed for iO Tillett Wright's Self-Evident Truths Project, stating she falls somewhere on the LGBT spectrum.[28][29] Although being too young to vote, she supported Bernie Sanders during the 2016 Democratic Party presidential primaries.[30] Depp and her mother Vanessa Paradis were photographed for Our City of Angels magazine in February 2017. The sales proceeds for the issue were donated to Planned Parenthood.[31]
