"Ze plane! Ze plane!"

Herve Villechaize did not say "Ze plane! Ze plane!" Nor could he, even if he wanted to. In addition to a thick French accent, he had an irrepressible lisp, which made itself plain when he talked about a guest's "fantathy" on "Fantasy Island." Because of his particular speech impediment, his opening line came out, "The plane! The plane!" 65.33.153.122 (talk) 18:26, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed - he audibly says, "De plane! De plane!" ("The plane! The plane!") - definitely not "Ze plane". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.157.5.186 (talk) 15:38, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled

Was Kathy Self his wife? I just thought she was his caregiver and assistant. I won't change it because I'm not altogether sure. Mike H 15:32, Jul 27, 2004 (UTC)

He shouldn't be listed as French since he did 99.9% of his career in the states.

Sorry, he was born and raised in France. He's French. Also, isn't his name "Villechaize"? Then why is it spelled with an s repeatedly? Mike H 02:52, Jan 21, 2005 (UTC)

What a sad ending to such a wonderful person. :-( --Bushido Hacks 12:18, 27 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It lists the movie "Crazy Joe" as a link, but the link goes to "crazy Joe" the Seinfeld character with no ambigious links otherwise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.153.45.49 (talk) 14:29, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Inconstistancy

On the Fantasy Island Page it says

"Villechaize quit the series prior to the 1983-1984 season"

While in this article it says

"He was eventually fired, but the show's popularity waned as the show "

Can someone clear it up? Jesus On Wheels 06:53, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

i saw a porno from the 80's, and i swear he was in it!

Herve Villechaize

Rest in peace.  :(

Start on Fantasy Island?

The article reads as such:

"His big break was getting cast in The Man with the Golden Gun in 1974, by which time he had become so poor he was living out of his car in Los Angeles.
Though popular with the public, Villechaize proved a difficult actor on Fantasy Island..."

This article lists no information on how Villachaize learned about the series, was cast, or even his real success with the show. It goes from living out of his car into his decline on Fantasy Island. Can someone please fluff this article up a bit? ClintFord 01:56, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Urmmmmmm

"Villechaize never got over losing his job, and for the remainder of his life practiced an often nightly ritual of drinking in a darkened room while screaming obscenities at an episode of Fantasy Island playing on his television." I suspect this could do with rewriting - it made me laugh but I do wonder if it really has a place here in its current form. (Emperor 15:19, 12 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Susan Tyrell

He dated his costar Susan Tyrell on the set of Forbidden Zone, according the the movie's DVD extras, and Tyrell speaks fondly of him, his giant-vegetable gardening (!), and mentions an annecdote where he slept on the stage in the movie's gorilla suit to keep warm.

D'you suppose any of that belongs in this article? --Scix 06:02, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:HerveVillechaize.jpg

Image:HerveVillechaize.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:51, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Life

Is this section a rip-off from IMDB, or the other way around? Looks like a cut-and-paste. Proxy User (talk) 18:24, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

learning language

The Herve biography states that he learned English, after moving to NY, by watching TV. Linguistic research suggests that our ability to learn any language strictly by watching TV is, arguably, impossible. Should the wording be changed here to imply that he believed that his English comprehension was a result of his watching TV? Sounds more reasonable to me... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.95.12.226 (talk) 19:15, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of his marriages?

Villechaize was married - and divorced - twice. His first wife was Anne Sadowski (1970 - 1979), his second wife was Camille Hagen (1980 - 1982). Both marriages are well-documented. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.104.126.39 (talk) 13:55, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Which One?

His big break was getting cast in The Man with the Golden Gun in 1974, by which time he had become so poor he was living out of his car in Los Angeles. Prior to being signed up by Bond producer Albert R. Broccoli, he made ends meet by working as a rat catcher's assistant near his South Central home.

So which was it? Living in a car or "his South Central home"? =//= Johnny Squeaky 01:42, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

DE Plane! DE Plane!

Would someone who knows how to do such things, please change the name of the article called "Ze Plane! Ze Plane!" to "De Plane! De Plane!"? De Plane, De Plane! is what he actually said, but some know-nothing created the page and called it "Ze Plane!" Until that is changed, the Wiki police will keep undoing my (or anyone else's) attempts to correct his famous Fantasy Island exclamation in his Wiki article. Thanks!

Not 1978... 1977!

The first Serie started/ is filmed in 1977, not 1978. You can clearly see that at the begining of every episode.5.132.53.188 (talk) 21:07, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
