Re: Indigenize Wikipedia
[edit]You can leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board and see who might be interested. If you are also hosting an on-site editing for this initative, you can also request a geonotice for Wikipedians in Canada to see a notice. OhanaUnitedTalk page 02:45, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
- Good day, this is a very interesting initiative! Let me know if you require any support from Wikimedia Canada. For example, we could provide financial support for some snacks and beverages or something like that to make your event more comfortable. Don't hesitate to contact me by email at jpbeland(at)wikimedia.ca so we could discuss further this project. I can add your event to the Wikimedia Canada's public calendar if you would like. Thank you very much! Amqui (talk) 23:58, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Heather. What a great project this is! It is so important to make those kinds of documents (and events) known. Having Yukoners create a page or add information to Wikipedia certainly is a good way to indigenize Wikipedia! Is it your first edit-a-thon? If so, you have to be aware of some basic rules. Like the fact that if you have many participants that have to create an account, it won't be possible on a same IP adresse. Meaning that on a same wifi you can only create a certain amount of accounts in a given period of time. Also, a new contributor won't be able to create a new page. It will almost certainly be deleted few seconds after it's creation. And if someone wants to create a page on someone from the Yukon First Nation community, they have to make sure that this person is presumed notable. If you have questions, feel free to contact me. I'll pass the information to people I know will be interested. Lea-Kim (talk) 02:22, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- I added a geonotice, which will display an event notice to any Wikipedians editing in Yukon (plus those on very northern BC like Atlin and western NWT like Inuvik). OhanaUnitedTalk page 21:31, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
Draft:Wikipedia:Meetup/IndigenizeWikipedia moved to Wikipedia:Meetup/IndigenizeWikipedia
[edit]Hello Heathervon, I was reviewing AfC submissions and came across your meetup page in the draft namespace with an Articles for Creation tag on it. I removed the tag and have moved it to the proper namespace (now it is located at Wikipedia:Meetup/IndigenizeWikipedia) as meetups are outside the scope of AfC. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know and I will get back to you as soon as possible. --TheSandDoctor Talk 19:17, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Really impressed
[edit]Hi, Heathervon, I'm really impressed by the simplicity of the open approach with which Indigenize is tackling such a huge information and content gap on Wikipedia. I can only wish you the very best and rub minds as I and my team mates also bridge the gaps we want the world to know. I'm free to mail. Danidamiobi (talk) 03:17, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
Congrats + project connection
[edit]Hi Heather, congratulations on this great event! Maybe you'll be interested to have a look at this inititative: Atikamekw knowledge, culture and language in Wikimedia projects. Our group produced a toolbox on Indigenous Languages and Knowledge on Wikimedia Projects. Do not hesitate to get in touch. Best, Seeris (talk) 18:53, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
