Hullo again, Since you were kind enough to sort out Graeme-Graham Richardson for me, perhaps you can help with this one too. There is an article on Hugh Lunn, an Australian author and journalist, but someone has just started an article on Hugh Lun with a Rugby League connection. It is the same person and the articles should be merged under Hugh Lunn, double N.

Sorted. Sorry for taking so long to get around to it. --Paul A 16:18, 31 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it seems you contributed to this article before I was Wikiborn! I propose to delete it as a non-notable biography; please see article talk page and VfD for discussion. Basically, I think that every biography of a mathematician should either describe a major theorem by the subject (or explain some truly notable non-mathematical achievement), or else it probably doesn't belong in the Wikipedia.---CH (talk) 19:04, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The image you uploaded, Image:Burmese cat large.jpg, has no source information. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Unless the copyright status is provided, the image will be marked for deletion on 24 October 2005.

Notification bot isn't as smart as it thinks it is

"The image you uploaded, Image:Burmese cat large.jpg, has no source information."

Not true.

"If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page."

Did that. There's a link right there, on the page.

LeonWhite was the one who tagged the image with the {{no source}} template. The Notification Bot is only for notification. --AllyUnion (talk) 04:55, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, both images listed on the page have been deleted. Unless you can provide the source for the image, it will be deleted. --AllyUnion (talk) 08:19, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Les Misérables

Wow. After commenting on the talk page, I moved over to see your GINORMOUS plot summary page. That is some piece of work. I still think we should try to have a short summary on the main page, but wanted to leave a note here to say "Wow." Kaisershatner 15:26, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image:InsideAgraFort.jpg

I would like to draw attention to the text below the photo labeled 'InsideAgraFort.jpg' as seen on the Wikipedia's 'Red Fort at Agra' page. It states that the photograph was taken at Khas Mahal. This is incorrect as this location is known as the Musamman Burj, where Shahjahan spent the last seven years of his life under house arrest by his son Aurganzeb.L1CENSET0K1LL 05:59, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand what use my attention is to you, since this is nothing to do with me. If you're certain the information is incorrect, why not just change it yourself? --Paul A 04:21, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the text in the photo uploaded onto the Red Fort page, however only the user who uploaded the file onto Wikipedia can edit the summary text (where the description is located) on the image page. --L1CENSET0K1LL 10:45, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's not true, in my experience. The summary text on an image page can be edited the same as any other page. --Paul A 03:40, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the red

G'day Paul,

I thought you might like to know that an article you recently created (after a fashion), in the red, is up for deletion. fuddlemark (fuddle me!) 09:49, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject

Hi, Paul! I'm looking for people who might be interested in a WikiProject for the family of articles comprising children's and young adult literature coverage, and you've been interested in many of these pages. I've made a proposal for a WikiProject, and I encourage you to view/edit the proposal and sign up if you like. It would be great to put an organised effort into rethinking these pages.

Thanks for the comment. And for the ridiculously embarassing reveal, which I have now fixed. That's what I get for cut and paste. *headdesk*

Hi Paul. I was wondering about the source for your assertion that Marty Feldman was an active member of the Communist Party of Great Britain. Can you please provide a source for that before I restore it? Thanks. Danny 19:29, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My what? That was in the article before ever I touched it. You want this edit. --Paul A 04:45, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Science fiction novels by milieu proposed for renaming and merger

I thought you may be interested in this vote. Linkto vote can be found in the category article.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 17:22, 1 May 2006 (UTC) I'd appreciate your comments to my question on this same section.[reply]

Oh, btw— saw the section above on Horatio Hornblower. If you need a good quick and dirty spell check, CTRL-A, CTRL-X the edit window. Paste into a email window like MS 'Outlook Express', spell check it, and do the same in reverse. Then finish your edit. I do it all the time. Should work in a word processor or with MS Wordpad as well.

The Origin of the Name Mephistopheles

Hi Paul,

I see you did the article on the origin of the name. I had ideas about sizable changes in the article. These, I have put at the bottom of the Discussion section of that article [[1]]. Since I agree with Wikipedia that, as much as possible, there should be consensus. I wanted to know what you thought of my proposed changes first.

Yours,

Thanks for your efforts in subcategorizing this category. I had been thinking about doing so myself, but so far had just managed to get the alphabetization correct. I'll see what else I can do there to help. Matchups 11:29, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you hadn't moved the two movie top-100 lists from the main category to the ...by medium category. If this was intentional, perhaps there should be a comment added, so future editors will consider this. If an oversight, I'd be happy to move them. Matchups 03:45, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still undecided whether to do that or to have another category called something like "Lists of characters who have been considered the best ever", which would also include 100 Best Characters in Fiction Since 1900. What do you think? --Paul A 03:48, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would go with "Lists of characters by awards" (or something like that) a bit more general than just "best ever;" it would include "worst ever," or best of the year, etc. And once it goes off the main page, I'd advocate putting it in the "by medium" category as well, in case anybody is looking there for movie lists. "Capital letters"

alright then... whatever. (SKITTLES 21:47, 9 June 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Sf-story-stub

Howdy! I noted your interest at WPSS, and wanted to let you know that {{sf-story-stub}} and Category:Science fiction short story stubs have been created. Happy sorting. Cheers, Her Pegship 02:22, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Gilbert and Sullivan edits

I see you launched a rather substantial recategorization of the Gilbert and Sullivan pages. Generally, it is considered a bad idea to do make such an invasive series of edits without discussing it with other editors who are working actively in the subject area, who may have different points of view. The last time we did this (introducing the Gilbert and Sullivan performers category), it was only after such a discussion.

I have reverted most of these edits and launched a discussion on Talk:Gilbert and Sullivan. Feel free to contribute, and after consensus has been reached, we can make whatever changes the community has agreed upon. Marc Shepherd 14:07, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, feel free to add yourself to the list of "participants" at WP:GS if you would like to get involved in the G&S project. Ssilvers 05:25, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Declaration of State of Israel 1948.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Declaration of State of Israel 1948.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 19:50, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind the above -- I found a source for the image and added it to the description at Commons, where someone had uploaded it. Jkelly

Theta Beta Potata PUNK HOUSE Deletion Review

This article was first started by me and was deleted back in May '06. I was reading the punk house article and saw that the link for the TBP article was no longer red so I clicked on it and there was an article back up, started by another user. I dont know who started it because, it was deleted soon after I saw it. The decision made in the "Article for Deletion" debate should be reconsidered. The article is about a punk house not a fratenal organization. It seems that the debate, run by User:ChrisB and results were reported by User:Mailer Diablo. I will post this on their talk pages. This is the first time I have requested a deletion review so please let me know what else I need to do. If there is anything. I am on wikipedia frequently and I want to learn. Thanks. Just curious..

..as to what the purpose is in bypassing the redirects in the Literary initials article? Best wishes. -- Peripatetic 10:29, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is my understanding that it's generally better to link directly to an article's actual title than to link via a redirect; redirects are there mostly to catch misspellings and typoes and suchlike. Now that you mention it, though, changing them all does seem like a rather pointless exercise.
(If the question is: why did I use pipes and leave the links looking the same? that's because you used the punctuation-less style so consistently that I assumed you had a good reason for it, so I thought I'd better leave it intact.) --Paul A 12:59, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was trying to sort out the various Tamora Pierce-related articles, clean them up and categorize them neatly, but I'm still rther new to WP, so I wasn't entirely sure what the consensus category hierarchy is. Moving Pages

Sorry about that. I was not aware of the procedure.

Unfortunately, now that I have copy-pasted the old page, I think I will need help from an admin to do it for me. Can you please help me move the page? The project is inactive and I am going to try and revive it, but I think I should start by moving the page.
