Resignation
This article suggests he resigned because of answering journalist questions in breach of etiquette. I've heard it claimed elsewhere he resigned because the success of the private prosecution made his position unteneable. The only ref I can find mentioning his resignation and the case [1] isn't clear. These two sources mention the case [2] [3] but not Fairbairn's resignation or involvement that I noticed Nil Einne (talk) 22:15, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Alcoholism
He appears to have had a serious drink problem. Most of the times I remember seeing the man speak he was blootered. Are there any good references for this?--MacRusgail (talk) 13:45, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
2nd wife?
I believe he remarried to the widow or divorcee of a Major McInnes of the Queens Own Highlanders. If so, I think this should be referenced. Valetude (talk) 22:12, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Paedo
In numerous news sources today. Will keep an eye on this and create section in main article if appropriate --82.41.251.96 (talk) 21:02, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
Appears to be coming out now that NF was a very sick man indeed. Sources and a couple of lines added. --82.41.251.96 (talk) 23:01, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Whitewashing
Nicholas Fairbairn was well known as a sex pest, including against children. This article tries to hand wave this. At least one of his child victims has waived her anonymity.
