Taganga is a small fishing village in the department of Magdalena, 5km north of Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.

Climate

Temperatures in Taganga and surrounding cities range from 27 to 35 °C (81 to 95 °F) at sea level. Rainfall in this region varies from nothing to around 975 millimetres (38 in) per month, but overall the climate is semi-arid and hot, with agriculture requiring irrigation from streams that drain from the snowy peaks.[1] The Köppen Climate Classification subtype for this climate is "Aw". (Tropical Savanna Climate).[2]

Activities

Underwater Brain Coral near Taganga

Taganga is a popular scuba diving destination with many PADI certified dive centers. Dive sites are usually near the small island "Aguja", a part of Tayrona National Natural Park. The underwater reefs and surrounding areas of Taganga have a large diversity of flora and fauna.[4]
