Adam Kamani is a British businessman. He is the CEO of Kamani Property Group and KM Capital as well as a co-founder of PrettyLittleThing.[1][2]

Family background

Adam’s grandfather Abdullah Kamani left Kenya in the 1960s and moved to the UK with his wife and four children.[3] He began his business empire by selling handkerchiefs and towels from a market stall. Adam’s father Mahmud developed a textile company which went on to supply New Look and Primark.[4] He created Boohoo, a fashion business in 2006 which became the foundation for Adam's interest in the business world.[5]

Early life and education

Adam Kamani grew up in Chorlton, Manchester and attended Wilmslow High School. He later studied International Hospitality Business at Sheffield Hallam University but he moved to Miami before completing the course.

Career

Adam started his business career by working for the family business Boohoo in 2006.[6] In 2012, Adam and his brother Umar, launched a business firm known as Pretty Little Thing with focus on the fashion accessories market.[7] The fashion business attracted the likes of Kylie Jenner, Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora, Nicki Minaj and other celebrities.[8] Pretty Little Thing was later purchased by Boohoo in December 2016.[9]

Kamani also founded Kamani Property Group in New York with focus on the property market there.[10] He became the CEO of the company in 2016.[10] In 2017, Kamani founded KM Capital, a funding platform that aims to support young, dynamic businesses with a key focus on tech start-ups.[11][12]

Awards

On April 19 2018 Adam was named as the Young Property Professional Of The Year at the North-West Business Insider Young Professional Awards with the Manchester based panel of judges saying he was ‘the person most likely to really change the city.[13]

Philanthropy

In 2018 Kamani ran a social media competition to give away a £20,000 home makeover which had more than 2,000 entries.[14] The prize was won by a man who was forced to live in a bungalow after he had had an operation to remove a tumour from his spine.[14]

Kamani got married to Charlotte McHale on 3rd of September 2017
