Shetty
Shetty is a surname from coastal Karnataka in India. It is found among Hindus of the Bunt community.[1] The Bunt community is also found in Solapur area of the adjoining state of Maharashtra[2]. While the Shettys were classified as Backward caste under Hindu Vedic system & Backward class by Indian Constitution in Karnataka, they were classified as Scheduled caste in Maharashtra.[3]. The caste of Shetty in Karnataka is classified as “Backward Class” by the Indian constitution too.[4]
