Khandaani Shafakhana (transl. Familial clinic) is an upcoming 2019 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film directed by debutant director Shilpi Dasgupta, and starring Sonakshi Sinha and rapper-turned-film actor Badshah in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Varun Sharma and Annu Kapoor. Principal photography began on 25 January 2019, and it is scheduled to be theatrically released in India on 2 August 2019.

Synopsis

The film is about a Punjabi girl, Babita "Baby" Bedi (played by Sonakshi Sinha), who has to run a fertility clinic. She will have to face many obstacles of this society that is conservative towards women.

Production

The principal photography of the film began in Punjab in the end of January 2019.[5] The film also marks the acting debut of Badshah.[6]

Marketing and release

The first look poster of the film was released by Sonakshi Sinha on 19 June 2019.[7] The next day another poster was unveiled presenting the lead cast of the film in a teaser look.[8] The official trailer of the film was released on 21 June 2019 by T-Series.[9]

The film slated to release on 2 August 2019, after the initial release dates were changed.[10]The film will be released alongside of Sidharth Malhotra, and Parineeti Chopra starrer Jabariya Jodi (2019).[11]

The film has been certified with a runtime of 136 minutes by British Board of Film Classification and schedule to release on 2 August 2019.[1]

The music of the film is composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Rochak Kohli, Badshah and Payal Dev and lyrics written by Badshah, Tanishk Bagchi, Kumaar, Mellow D, Shabbir Ahmed Gautam G Sharma and Gurpreet Saini. The song "Shehar Ki Ladki" which is picturised on Diana Penty, is a recreated song from Rakshak (1996), originally pictured on Raveena Tandon[13] It was revealed that the original cast of Raveena Tandon and Suniel Shetty that featured in song sequence will appear in this song sequence to create nostalgic moments. The song was originally sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Chandana Dixit and composed by Anand-Milind in 1996. [14]
