Super Smash Bros. Brawl FAQs

There are a few questions have been asked way too many times around here. You can find the answers to these questions on this page.

What happened

who erased half the dicussions in the archive and made a archive. 20:30, 12 November 2006 User: Marioman11

I fixed the archives so you can go to the six archive instead of the fifth one, but I don't know who (unsuccessfully) made the sixth archive. User: Marioman11

I did because the talk page was 105KB long and needed to be arhcived. Hbdragon88 01:44, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
When you archive talk pages, your not supposed to archive the enire page, just old, obsolete discussions. Please see WP:ARCHIVE. — Jaxad0127 03:13, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
And I used move procedure method. Feel free to copy back anything that is sitll active. Hbdragon88 06:19, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

a Star Fox stage with the "new" Great Fox

the ship that Fox was on in the trailer was not "the new Great Fox" as seen in Command. the old Great Fox can be seen in the background for a few seconds when Fox is shown at one point in the trailer. --AgreeneyedFox 03:57, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Two different stages then? — Jaxad0127 04:11, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure, but I didn't see the "new" Great Fox anywhere, just the old one flying away in the background. --AgreeneyedFox 04:17, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

It doesn't matter what it is. Adding anything about it being a new Great Fox o the old on is speculation and would be removed. -Sukecchi 12:50, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

The page broke

The line between Wario and Stages is all wonky, even though the code seems to be correct. What happen? EDIT: Now that I look again, what's been taken out of stages is now all broken looking at the bottom of the page under references. Comrade Pajitnov 00:09, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

/fixed. The <ref> tag was not closed, and so the whole thing appeared in code at the bottom as part of reference 9. Fixed easily enough by adding a </ref> tag. Ourai т с 00:14, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Well that's that. About that picture though, it kind of ruins the flow of the article. I think I'm going to remove it for now. Comrade Pajitnov 00:21, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I think it makes things better but um I forgot to say where I got it. I didn't mean to I also did it with a samus photo and I got's the orphan bot at my door. User:Marioman11 Help me!!!!!!!!!

I tried to make things better

Please help me I got a legal Wario SSBB. pic. and messed upstages section I need help please very much I'm sorry I didn't leave this to the professionals.

Characters section picture issue

I understand why the characters section is in alphabetical order, but with Fox having a picture placed above the general picture that depicts most of the characters, the section looks pretty muddled. I have some prepostions.

A. Change the order of the characters section. The order would be based on the picture of the majority of the characters, with the characters not featured in the picture listed alphabetically at the end, possibly with pictures of their own. (Personally, I think that there should also be a picture of regular Samus Aran.)

B. Keep the alphabetical order and remove Fox's picture, moving the general characters picture to the top of the section.

C. Keep the alphabetical order and remove all the pictures except the general one.

D. Replace all pictures with the bar featuring the faces (or so) from the Nintendo World trailer.

E. No change.

Obviously there are options besides the ones listed, but these cover most of it. I feel we should go with either A or D.Tuesday42 22:45, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I think we need to make better too User:Marioman11

I think we should just remove the Fox picture. It's a screenshot, and it doesn't really do much hel p to the article. Yoshitsune Shaojian 06:13, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Fair Use dictates a limited amount of pics so option D won't work. I say just keep it the same, when the game is released that whole section will be revamped anyway. Most likely all character pics will go by then. In favor of the character select screen. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 17:41, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Summer 2007?

Can that really be trusted? I mean, how do we know EGM isn't speculating (and they have in the past)?. No official sources have reported this. Furthermore, it's a little hypocritical to allow that in the article when just awhile ago everyone agreed not to put Fox in the confirmed character list when a European Nintendo magazine (which was more official than EGM) "confirmed" him on the belief that it was most likely speculation. 199.126.137.209 10:12, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Fox was revealed in the Nintendo World 2006 trailer. It is found here. Starmenclock 15:50, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

...That's not what I'm referring to. I am well aware of that much, thank you. I'm talking about when an official Nintendo magazine did a little section on Fox (since Command had recently been released), and mentioned how his first Wii appearance would be in Brawl (this was quite a bit before Nintendo World). The editors of this article had decided that they were most likely speculating and decided to keep him out of the confirmed characters section of the article. I don't see how EGM (a magazine with no official connection to Nintendo) should be any more reliable of a source than the said European Nintendo magazine. Is EGM really any more accurate than places/sites like IGN and Gamestop who all give out different tentative release dates? 199.126.137.209 17:25, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Please see Achieve 6. —FullMetal Falcon 01:56, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

I have, and it wasn't very helpful. It provided no better insight into this issue. Again, what makes EGM's release date any more accurate than Gamestop (who claims March) or IGN (who claims TBA 2007 for US and December 31 for Japan)? Could someone at least add a disputed assertion tag to it?

What happened to the "better safe than sorry" attitude that the editors of this article had before? When many sources had claimed the game developer was Sora, everyone decided there wasn't enough evidence to prove that (and I agree), but now when a very questionable source gives a release date, everyone decides it's good enough. Also, if you check the Japanese wiki on this, you can see that they don't even have a Japanese release date. Funny how no one in Japan has heard about this yet (or that so many people just neglected to edit the page accordingly). 199.126.137.209 11:22, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

It's ironic, the SSBM article mentions how EGM spread false rumors about unlocking Sonic and Tails, and now this SSBB article seems to trust EGM religiously. If you ask me, EGM cannot be trusted. -Power Slave 20:59, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Possible May 2007 Launch?

Matt over at IGN seems to think so.

Source Qorzm 06:17, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

He's not an official source and in reality probably does not know any more than anyone else. Though neither is EGM, but that nevertheless seems to be good enough for this article's editors...bah. 199.126.137.209 11:24, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Isn't It Called Super Smash Bros. Dojo!!?

I went on to the official site and it was called Super Smash Bros. Dojo!!. I not sure if this was the project name or what they were really going to call it when it releases. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.223.47.102 (talkcontribs)

Sheesh, how many times is someone going to ask this question! That is the name of the website, the name of the game is Super Smash bros. Brawl. The name has not changed and will not change. Pardon me if sound irritated, but this question has already been asked numerous times. If you ever have question like this again, it might be a good idea to check the archives to see if such a question has already been answered. Master Strike 17:49, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Sheesh. -- ReyBrujo 17:53, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Cool it, Master Strike, they were just asking a question. You can't expect them to dig through the archives for every single question they want to bring up. If you're so irritated by the repeated asking of this question, make some kind of notice at the top of the talk page that it's not called Smash Bros. Dojo.--the ninth bright shiner talk 20:31, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Hey that's a good idea! So many people have asked this question that I was thinking about adding something to the article itself. However, adding a notice on the talk page sounds like an even better idea. I would do this myself except I don’t know how. Would someone more skilled then me add such a notice?
Ps. Sorry if seemed a little rude, I’m still new to Wikipedia so I’ll have to work on my WikiEtiquette.

Revert

Can someone revert the page? Somebody screwed it up. --Linkmasta 22:32, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Explain/be more descriptive. What edit did so? How exactly is it screwed up? —Disavian (talk/contribs) 22:36, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Nevermind. Someone fixed it. --Linkmasta 22:38, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

For the public good, I created a quick FAQ for some questions that seem to crop up once every week or so. If someone wants to box it to the top of the page, go ahead; I'm not too sure what accepted format is for such a thing. Hope I've been of service. Ourai т с 03:09, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Good job, this answers most of the recurring questions that people have concerning SSBB. I wonder if we could provide a link at the bottom of this article to direct people to the FAQ. Does anyone think would be a good idea? Master Strike 12:05, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
I've already done that, except that the link is at the top of the page, so that it'll be noticed by impatient anons. :p Seriously, I've hedged it in as the first section. Go and look at it, if you please. --Luigifan 12:11, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, and well done. Master Strike 12:33, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

First Picture

The Fox article makes reference to him being displayed to the right, and the description of the picture lists Fox and Snake, they are not in the picture. LordFenix 09:48, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Solid Snake pic

Why keep the solid snake pic if were not going to have a wario pic, a fox mcloud pic, and a samus with normal armor on pic I'm getting rid of the snake pic. User:Marioman11

So people will actually have proof that he is actually in the game. Fox and Samus are returning characters and Wario was pretty much guarenteed to get in there anyway. --Linkmasta 20:27, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Than put a link in there User:Marrioman11

I think a picture is easier. Besides, we already have a link. --Linkmasta 22:36, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Detailed level descriptions?

Can someone please add a more detailed level description for the confirmed levels? For instance, the description for the mario kart level could include that the track is Mario Circut from mario kart DS and that red shy guys drive on the track to interfere with the battle. --User:MariofanDS 14:27, 20 November 2006

Thanks for your input! Unfortunately, one cannot discern that the mario kart level is taken from a specific Mario Kart game. It is styled after the Mario Circuit levels which appear in all Mario Kart games, and, to me, that level seems to be based of of either Mario Kart DS or Mario Kart:Double Dash. Also, if you notice that an article needs improvement, feel free to do it yourself. Even if you consider your input to be bad in anyway, other editors will add on to it.Tuesday42 21:37, 20 November 2006 (UTC) Yo Yo Yo solid snake is a G to the highest degree. Sephiroth needs to be on the game, not that Kalasbo queer. nintendo needs to put good characters like cloud, waluigi, bowser jr, X, Zero, and diddy. Those are the true G's of nintendo and Square Enix

The same IGN page is reffed twice

Once in Fox's area and once down at the bottom in development. The thing is, I don't know if it would have to be reffed both times, and I'm not sure what to do with it. I'll let you Wikipedians decide. Comrade Pajitnov 00:13, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Release Date

IGN says that Brawl will be released in Japan on the 31 of December in 2007 here. Should we add that in or wait until we get a better source? --Linkmasta 14:42, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

No, Best Buy said March, EGM says "Summer". See where I'm getting at? FullMetal Falcon 21:34, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
It's all so clear now! Thank you, FullMetal Falcon! (No sarcasim intended). --Linkmasta 22:01, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
There's no way it could be finished by March of 2007... unless they've been keeping the game's true progress under wraps this whole time.-Power Slave 01:13, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
It's possible. The game was revealed relatively late in development, but this is apparently the norm for games these days. (A good example would be Halo 3; revealed about the same time, finished at around the same time.) The second trailer shows what is clearly gameplay footage. I wouldn't be surprised if Brawl is at Alpha build, and the next few months between now and Gold will be mostly play- and bug-testing. Ourai т с 01:28, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

New Re-released Trailer

On the Smash Bros. Dojo, the newer trailer was re-released in better quality. Maybe now we can pinpoint more detail and description! Spindash Shoryuken 02:10, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

It's in English too! Depressio 04:17, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

New Screens

I came across some screens just a minute ago. Don't know if these have been seen yet but in case they aren't, here's what I'm talking about: http://www.nwiizone.com/nintendo-wii/nwii/smash-brothers-wii-new-images/. Knuckles sonic8 22:17, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Nice! Aguni Dragon-OX 23:00, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

They're all on the Dojo. Also, this isn't the place to discuss new game information unless it is relevant to the article. Sorry if I sound like a jackass. :P --User:Guess Who, not signed in

Thought it was related. Reveals sources for images furthering the confirmation of a few things in the article. Knuckles sonic8 23:57, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

So anyway, regarding the above gallery, we can discern: (a) the return of the Pokemon Stadium stage from Melee; (b) Kirby has the ability to use DeDeDee's hammer. There's also something attached onto Fox's leg - seems familiar to me... a bomb of some kind? Maybe it's another one of his weapons in his arsenal. Anything else? Knuckles sonic8 03:50, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Uh Kirby has been able to use the Hammer ability as an attack since Melee, remember? It's nothing new for this game. Falcovsleon21

Never played Melee w/ Kirby. In fact, only played Melee for 10 min. :P Knuckles sonic8 04:29, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Fox in SSBB

http://media.wii.ign.com/media/748/748545/img_4086682.html

Maybe we can incorporate this picture into the article somehow? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.235.83.132 (talkcontribs) at 18:53, November 27, 2006 (UTC)

It would be possible, but not preferred. Most people know what the characters look like, and there is the "cast" image at the top of the character section for most of them. Snake is an exception simply because, since he hasn't been in Smash games before, an image is indicated to show that, yes, he actually will be in the game. Fox doesn't really need an image, and, according to fair use Wikipolicy, the fewer images we can use, without overly restricting content, the better. Also, see this relevant comment, just a few sections up. Ourai т с 00:59, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
I like how IGN takes images and smacks their nasty watermark on them. Anyway, if people want to see pictures of the characters, they can go look for them themselves. No need having tons of pictures making the article all cluttered. Comrade Pajitnov 01:04, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

That was also in the gallery I posted above. Knuckles sonic8 02:34, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Characters Picture

I got a picture of all the characters here http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o155/depressio_11117/SmashBrosCharacters.jpg?t=1164680097 Depressio 20:20, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Hmm...the pictures seem a tad small to be put on display here. Maybe if they release a version of the video with a higher resolution? Spindash Shoryuken 16:11, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Alright Depressio 16:15, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

If someone was to upload a bigger version maybe it could replace some images their. FullMetal Falcon 00:14, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Other Characters

The FAQ (which I did read) mentions that no other characters have been confirmed by official sources. Masahiro Sakurai commented on a radio show that there would be three more characters: Bowser Jr., "Celda" Link, and Ridley. He also said that Mr. Game & Watch, Ice Climbers, and Young Link would not be in the game. I felt the game's director was a significant enough source for the statement to have value, so I added the three characters to a small subsection at the end of the characters portion. These characters haven't been seen any videos or Nintendo promotions yet though, and I made sure to specifically point that out. Anyways, I wasn't entirely sure of the best course of action, so you guys decide. Chris3145 22:49, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

I checked the archive talk page and saw this was removed before. I personally think it is reliable enough to be mentioned as long as it taken with a grain of salt, but somebody did make the good point that the article at 1Up.com could be a product of a rumor mill (It was taken from a different French article, after all.) I'm taking it off. Chris3145 23:04, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

I heard mention of that as well (about Young Link being taken out; never heard about Clbimers and Game and Watch, though), but I believe I heard it officially somewhere... as in, not as a rumor.. but I don't remember where. I've visited so many sites it's hard to keep track. :P I also think that that mention of the three characters, although not necessarily official, is still notable and we should watch out for this as news on characters progresses. Knuckles sonic8 03:32, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

THIS IS A RUMOR. IT IS NOT TRUE. This is the most widely believed rumor, but it's false. Sakurai was never on a radio show. Wait until you have physical proof first. Spindash Shoryuken 03:39, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I guess so... but I did hear that "Young Link" comment somewhere else, like I said earlier, officially/unoffically confirmed - can't 'member... I don't even remember the source so I can't really clarify credibility of it but as for the radio thing, I agree, we'll need further proof. Knuckles sonic8 03:52, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

It's already proven to be a hoax because the guy who posted this out and out admitted it! Until we see conclusive proof on the subject, I suggest taking that info down now. Because I am so sick of people treating that information as fact when it was shot down as false by the guy who posted it in the first place. Falcovsleon21

2nd issue of that english magazine

Hey if any one can get that new england magazine. It has a 12 page section on SSBB. Also I lost my old password so just think of me as Marioman11. User:Marioman12

Developer

From the official Smash Bros site, as of Nov. 26th: "This is Masahiro Sakurai of Sora, director of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.". Can we list the developer as Sora Ltd. already? This seems like confirmation to me. TheWarlock 17:31, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
