Keep track of your questions

Wikipedia has many places to ask questions, such as the:

Sometimes, a user will post a question and forget all about it. It is easy to forget about these unless you keep a record of the questions you posted to refer back to later. One useful method for doing this is to set aside a section of your User page or Talk page, to keep a list of links to your queries. In this list, you can place section links which lead directly to the subheadings (AKA sections) under which you posted your queries.

Creating a key on wikipedia images

Hi Elysia, I am doing a translation of the article https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historia_del_idioma_gallego and the second image has a key that I am having trouble translating. When I copy and translate the code to english the key comes up as #4682B4 + Idioma gallego when i publish it. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this? Help request

Hello! Can you please help me with something? I tried to post my article for class but it already exists as a redirect page. I have looked and looked and not sure how to post my article now...edit redirect page? Thank you NanetteNH (talk)Nanette —Preceding undated comment added 04:33, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This was addressed--thanks again, Mathglot. Will leave note on student's talk page to let them know. Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:29, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I need to change the title of a page

Hi Elysia, I just created the page Diffusion-Limited Escape (of Atmospheres). I just realized that the title of the page should not be capitalized after the first word. The title should be "Diffusion-limited escape (of atmospheres)". How should I go about changing the title? Thanks! Nickwogan (talk) 23:21, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) @Nickwogan:,  Done. Note, per WP:PRECISION, "Diffusion-limited escape" is sufficient; parenthetical disambiguation is not necessary here. You can add the two words back to the first sentence, if you think it needs it, but it doesn't seem like it does to me. Mathglot (talk) 04:02, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks, Mathglot! Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:26, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox Edits & Published

Hi Elysia,

I made (and saved!) some edits to the intro & career sections of the Marietta Bones article. Please let me know what you think when you have a moment. I am still working on some of the content in my sandbox as well as all sections of the article, minus the intro.

I apprecite your feed back! GBJohnston (talk) 19:31, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

citations

Dear Elysia, thanks for the advice. Regarding the citations, I can not do as instructed. When I open 'edit' then as I have a previous references and I have to put the cursor on the last punctuation/word, opening "Cite" to "Reuse" that reference, it does not happen. I mean the "Cite" does not open so I "Reuse" a reference. Thanks for your help again! −−Fatemeh Saber (talk) 03:12, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reviewing my contribution on Texas to the Women's Suffrage in States of the United States article. I also updated the Bibliography. I think I'm getting addicted to editing Wikipedia!

Thanks dear Elysia for your great help!

New question

I did corrected and edited all those you mentioned esp citations...omly one citation in my sandbox, first sandbox, that is citation number 4 has an issue. How can I edit that?! –– Fatemeh Saber (talk) 08:49, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fatemeh Saber, While in edit mode, click on the citation at the end of the sentence and click "edit". For citing web resources, the citation wants more than the URL. It also wants the title of the specific webpage and other information. So you can fill in "title" as "Catharine Beecher", "last name" as "Michals", "first name" as "Debra", "source date" as 2015. Basically you want to give as much information about the reference as possible. Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:01, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A kitten for you!

Thank you for all of your help over the last few months. You helped make my experience with WikiEd absolutely wonderful!

ScoutHarris, orange just like my sweet baby! swoons So happy our paths got to cross! I'm also so happy to help another Wikipedian find their way home :) don't be a stranger! Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:39, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Elysia (Wiki Ed), I won't. I have such a new appreciation for bats now. They used to terrify me, but I figure, "If Elysia loves you so much, you're probably pretty great." ScoutHarris (talk) 18:41, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
ScoutHarris, truly, there could be no higher praise. My work here is done (takes bow). Some parting bat facts for your viewing delight:
  1. Bats live way longer than they should, based on other mammals (usually smaller mammals have shorter lives). Like 10 times longer than they should. Brandt's bats can live longer than 40 years!
  2. Nursing momma bats can eat 1.25 their own body weight in insects every night to feed their hungry babies
  3. Some cultures use bat teeth as a form of currency!!
  4. I once wrote a whole biography of a woman (who turned out to be pretty cool anyway) all because she happened to have a species of bat named after her.
Thank you for tuning into my bat broadcast. Please return at any time for more bat facts 😂 Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:10, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Circling back on 19th amendment GA talk

Hi Elysia; I haven't been around Wikipedia this summer and just saw your note that the 19th amendment article is being reviewed for GA status. Keeping this short cuz I never know if I'm doing the talk pages right, but I will read through the comments more closely and let you know if I can contribute some edits.
