Surely my rubbish old username tricked you into assuming who I am? No problem, that's why I still use it. :P Call me Nick Lancer.

Anyways, I am a Wikipedia editor with good intentions. Sometimes not everything will go as planned, but then again we all make mistakes, and we learn from them. If anyone feels like my edits aren't very well done, feel free to improve on them!

Main introduction

Greetings, kind fellow! Welcome to my Wikipedia user page. On most of my internet accounts (like this one), you will see the username GoAnimateFan199Pro. Today, that alias is only used for memory; as of the present day I go by Nick Lancer. You can simply call me Nick.

Who I am and what I do

NOTE: Throughout this section, anything in bold is supposed to match up with the userboxes seen in my grey infobox.

Photograph of me in May 2017

I have said previously that I go by Nick Lancer. To clarify, that is not my real name. As a measure of privacy, I have chosen not to reveal my legal name, however that may change in the future. I was born on May 20, 2003 (which makes me 21 years old), at the Dignity Memorial Hospital in Glendale, California. I have lived in Glendale since my birth.

I am a proud American citizen, and I was born an American in America.

I speak native English. Rarely do I ever understand foreign languages. I am not a multilingual but I do hope to be one. My father is fluent in English, Armenian (verbally only) and Arabic, while my mother is fluent in English and Armenian, advanced in Persian, and has a basic knowledge of French.

I live under the Pacific Time Zone (UTC-08). The time in my area right now is 6:06 PM.

Oh by the way, about my parents: my father was born a few blocks away from the Isa Ibn Maryam Mosque in the neighborhood of Riyadh, located in southeastern Baghdad, Iraq, and my mother was born in the town of Narmak, located in northeastern Tehran, Iran. My father served as an interpreter in the military and worked as a mechanic at a Honda dealer in Glendale, called Colonial Honda (now Diamond Honda), and he is currently employed at Walt Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products (woah that's a long name) in Burbank as a security guard (he was previously employed at Califone International in San Fernando, the Whole Foods offices in Glendale, and he worked part-time at a Walmart in Burbank). My mother was employed at the City of Glendale and didn't do much else. She originally had the dream of becoming a nurse, but because I was later diagnosed with autism (read more below), I had to be supervised at all times (especially because I had daily therapy), until... I think the age of 11. As of August 2017, my mother is still not employed.

I have my own website, although obscure and outdated, that I have made with Wix. I first launched the site sometime around 2015, and left it alone no later than early 2018.

I have been on Wikipedia, under a registered account, for well over 2 years now. When I first registered on July 18, 2015, I only wanted to edit a few pages. Then after further experimenting with the site, I decided to contribute at a higher level than my intent. As of April 23, 2018, I have made over 1000 contributions to my name. With those regards, I have given myself the Apprentice Editor award. I also understand that on Wikipedia, the quality of your edits is better than how many you make. I have extended confirmed rights, but I am not an administrator and I do not wish to be one at the moment.

I helped promote two articles to good article status. See below.

Near the age of two, I was diagnosed with high-functioning autism, which is at the end of the autism spectrum. Developmental delays are one of the effects of autism that I went through during my elementary education. Not too much of a concern or issue anymore.

When I listen to music, I mostly enjoy 70s disco, 80s pop, modern indie electronic, soft rock, hard rock, among many others. Not that fond of modern pop or death metal. In a nutshell, I enjoy most types of music. Acts like Michael Jackson, George Michael, Daft Punk, Kanye West and Avicii have been particular inspirations for my musical tastes.

The computer I mostly use to edit on Wikipedia is a Dell OptiPlex 755, running Microsoft Windows 7 Professional. You can read my full specs here. I store most of my data on the Seagate STCD500102, which can hold up to 465 GB of storage. Sometimes, I access the web (and edit on Wikipedia) using my phone, which is a space gray Apple iPhone 8 Plus. Before I had a phone, I used my mother's phone, a light-gold colored Samsung Galaxy S7. When it comes to personal preference, I can't choose between Mac and PC. Occasionally, I scan my PC using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Whenever I browse the vast realm of the interwebs, I only use Google.

How my username (GoAnimateFan199Pro) came to be

After the beginning of 2010, I began to hold an interest to "grounded videos" on this video creation service known as GoAnimate (which is apparently now known as Vyond). But it was not until September 1, 2013 when I decided to register a personal account on the site, for personal entertainment. It wasn't until March 2014 when I started showing public activity on the site and created my alias (which is a promotional username). Originally "GoAnimateFan199", I changed my public alias to "GoAnimateFan199Pro", after observing the username of an online acquaintance, who's username ended in Pro. After the site started to go downhill around the period of 2014-15, I decided to change my public alias to Nick. It wasn't until about 2 months later when I came up with Nick Lancer, the Lancer part of the alias being named after the cavalrymen of the same name, as well as the car line of the same name.

As of 2016, I no longer take any relations to GoAnimate.

My experience on Wikipedia

In a nutshell: I have been on Wikipedia for a fair amount of time, but still have plenty to learn.

I joined Wikipedia on July 18, 2015, at exactly 4:01 PM my time. My first edit, save my user page, was of the Technicolor SA article, just 51 minutes after joining. I added "was a French multinational corporation that" to the lead of the article.

I have had many struggles as an editor, especially in my first few years, primarily from a lack of understanding of Wikipedia's policies. Most of my edits early on, many unnotable or uncited, were tested. However, over the years, my understanding of Wikipedia's mission became clearer. Obviously I am not perfect, so I am bound to make mistakes as an editor, but overall, I have high hopes that my edits can compliment Wikipedia.

If an edit of mine is reverted, I will usually acknowledge it, unless I have explicit reasoning to revert it back. I pledge to not revert a reverted edit more than once as of the writing of this paragraph, because I do not wish to participate in edit warring.

As of August 2018, I have made over 1,100 edits to my name, to over 700 pages.

Trivia

  • Some of the notable people I have met in my lifetime include:
  • - Andy, singer (2009, location unknown)
  • - Jefferson Black, actor (multiple times between 2014-2017, Glendale)
  • - Jim Burnstein, film producer (2015 in my middle school's auditorium)
  • - Adam Schiff, California congressman (2018 in my high school's auditorium)
  • - Fitz Houston, actor (two times in 2018-2019, in my school)
  • - Vahik Pirhamzei, filmmaker and actor (2019 at Pacific Theatres, Glendale)

I have also met a few fairly popular city locals (only popular within my home city Glendale, or the LA region), one example being the manager of the Glendale Galleria (2017 within my middle school campus).

  • My father claims that he was supposed to be cast as a cameo in the 1990 comedy film Kindergarten Cop. He has also met some notable people, including:
  • My sister has contributed to one of the Rose Parades in Pasadena (I am still not sure which one). She and one of my cousins near her age have also met Ariana Grande in 2013, while she was signing her 17th magazine imprint at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Glendale. My sister and cousin were both 18 years of age at the time.
  • My aunt's fiance met, and talked with, Shia LaBeouf, in his early high school days.
