Chittaphon Leechaiyapornkul (Thai: ชิตพล ลี้ชัยพรกุล, Korean: 이영흠 Lee Young-heum, Chinese name: 李永欽; Lǐ Yǒngqīn; born February 27, 1996), known professionally as Ten (Thai: เตนล์, Korean: ), is a Thai singer and dancer of Chinese descent active in South Korea and China. He debuted with South Korean boy group NCT in 2016 with its first sub-unit NCT U. Mainly active as a member of Chinese boy group WayV since 2019, he is also a member of the South Korean supergroup, SuperM.

Ten's first single "Dream in a Dream" was released in 2017 through SM Station project.[1]

Early life

Ten was born in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 27, 1996 to a Thai Chinese family.[2] Ten won the Thai television show Teen Superstar in 2010 and earned the opportunity to sign a contract with Starship Entertainment, but ultimately refused. In 2013, he joined SM Entertainment through their global auditions.[2] He studied at Shrewsbury International School. In 2018, he received an official exemption from mandatory military service due to knee injuries.[3]

Career

2011–2015: Pre-Debut

In 2011, he was a contestant of Teen Superstar, under the stage name TS7 TNT. In 2013, he was cast by SM Entertainment through the SM Global Audition 2013 in Bangkok. Ten was introduced as a member of SM Entertainment's pre-debut training team SM Rookies on December 23, 2013.[4] In 2014, Ten and other future NCT members participated on the show Exo 90:2014, remaking K-pop songs from the 90s.

2016–2018: Debut, NCT, Hit The Stage, and First single

In April 2016, SM Entertainment confirmed Ten alongside other members to debut as members of NCT's first subgroup, NCT U, with the single, "The 7th Sense" and he participated in Mnet's dance program Hit the Stage.[5][6][7]

In January 2017, he joined the cast of SBS's program, Elementary School Teacher, which shows idols from foreign countries improving their Korean language skills as well as becoming more accustomed to Korean culture.[8]

On March 24, 2017 S.M. released a teaser for Ten's first single through SM Station Season 2 titled "Dream in a Dream". The song was released on April 7.[1] It was announced on the same day that Ten is the new member of SM Entertainment's performance team, SM The Performance.

Ten concluded the project album, SM Station Season 2 with his single "New Heroes" on April 6, 2018, peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard's Word Digital Song Sales.[9] Dream in a Dream was included in NCT's first studio album, NCT 2018 Empathy, which also marked the release of the NCT U single "Baby Don't Stop", a duet which he recorded alongside Taeyong. He also made an appearance in the "Black On Black" music video as a member of NCT 2018.

2019–present WayV, SuperM

On December 31, 2018 it was announced that WayV, a China-based boy group managed by Label V, a subsidiary of SM Entertainment, would be formed. The group consists of Kun, Winwin, Ten, Lucas, Hendery, Xiaojun, and YangYang. They officially debuted on January 17, 2019 with their debut EP The Vision and the Chinese version of NCT 127's "Regular" as its lead single.[10][11]

On August 8, 2019, it was announced that Ten would be joining Taemin of Shinee, Baekhyun and Kai of EXO, Taeyong and Mark of NCT 127, and Lucas of WayV in SuperM, a "K-pop supergroup" created by SM Entertainment in collaboration with Capitol Records. The group's promotions began in October and are primarily aimed at the American market.[12][13] SuperM released their self-titled debut EP on October 4, 2019 and become the first K-pop group to rank number one on Billboard 200 with a debut album and subsequently went on a tour in North America and Europe.[14][15][16]
