However: the use of "(fe)males" as a collective noun is different than using "(fe)male" as an adjective, and is grammatically incorrect. Also weird to describe human people as such. But, conceivably, there could be people named Erin who, while still children, become/are notable. And hence "female" (rather than "women") would apply.
