|ShortSummary = When the Investigation Team goes into the TV world to look for Kanji, Teddie reveals he cannot figure out where he is and he asks them to find something containing his scent. Remembering a bunny-shaped phonestrap charm he saw Kanji drop in school, Yu seeks out a little boy who asked Kanji to make him the charm as the original was a friend's that he had lost. After borrowing the charm, Teddie is able to use it to track down Kanji to the Steamy Bathhouse where they find Kanji struggling with his other self in a compromising position. When the other self proclaims that he is afraid that others will think of him differently because he is gay, Kanji rejects this, transforming his other self into an overly muscular Shadow, flanked by two equally muscular flamboyant lesser Shadows. Even using Rakshasa, Yu and the others are no match for Kanji's Shadow. It is only when Yu fuses two Personas into Yamata-no-Orochi and accepts Kanji for his love of cute things does Kanji manage to punch his own Shadow, taking it out of the battle. When Kanji's other self gets elated that Kanji is ready to accept his alleged homosexuality, Kanji retorts to his other self that he is not gay but afraid of being rejected by either sex, but Yu has showed him that his friends will accept him for who he is, turning his other self into his Persona: Take-Mikazuchi. Several weeks later, Kanji joins up with the Investigation Team to find out who pushed him and the others into the TV world. That night, Ryotaro asks Yu if he has been getting involved in anything, knowing that he was at Tatsumi Textiles and is worried that Yu is getting in over his head.

|ShortSummary = Knowing that a school camping trip is coming up, Yosuke gets giddy over the fact that they will get to cook curry together, but he lets the girls buy the food as he goes off to get other supplies. While at the campsite, Yosuke falls ill after he tries the girls' curry, to which they have added several ingredients to which make it barely edible. However, their classmate Hanako Ohtani loves the curry and eats it all. When Yu and Yosuke go to the first aid tent, they meet Saki Konishi's younger brother, Naoki, who has been feeling left out from activities since his sister died as everyone is trying to let him grieve. While the gang is hiding out eating food they have ordered the Aiya diner, Kanji picks up Naoki from his post so the others can talk to him, giving him some peace of mind. That night, when Yu and Yosuke tell Kanji they are wary of sharing a tent with him after seeing his other self, he storms out to break into the girls' tent to prove his Shadow was lying, but Chie knocks him out with a rock. Unable to sleep because of Hanako's snoring anyway, the boys let the girls share their tent, while Kanji is left with Hanako as they hide from Morooka drunkenly keeping watch because he believes his students are too promiscuous. On the last day of camping, Yosuke convinces the girls to go swimming, as he bought swimsuits for them at Junes. But when they are offended by the boys, they throw them into the river, just as a hungover Morooka throws up upstream from them. As they head back to camp, Hanako approaches Kanji, revealing that he is not her type, upsetting him.

|ShortSummary = The Investigation Team goes to save Rise from the TV world, finding her at the "Marukyu Striptease". As Rise is harassed by multiple other selves, each claiming to be the "real Rise", she rejects them, turning her "main" Other Self into a large Shadow. The gang summons their Personas to battle the Shadow, but she uses her special scanning ability to detect the strengths and weaknesses of their Personas, dodging their attacks and severely harming them. As she prepares a final attack, a "charged-up" Teddie rushes at the Shadow, who cannot detect what Teddie "is" and cannot come up with a counterattack. Teddie defeats the Shadow, flattening himself in the process, and Rise realizes that she does not know who the real her is, transforming her other self into her Persona: Himiko. However, this causes Teddie to have an existential crisis, bringing forth his other self which also turns into a Shadow, sucking Teddie's deflated body up and threatening to kill the others. As Teddie proclaims to his other self that he does not want the easy answers as to who he really is, Rise uses Himiko to detect Teddie's Shadow's weak spot, allowing Izanagi to defeat it, freeing Teddie who accepts his other self and receives his own Persona: Kintoki-Douji.

|ShortSummary = When Morooka is found murdered, the Investigation Team expresses dismay that they may not have stopped the murderer, even though they do not remember Morooka appearing on the Midnight Channel like the other victims. The gang also expresses distaste in the flirtatious behavior of their new homeroom teacher, Noriko Kashiwagi. They decide to talk to Teddie to see if he knows if Morooka was thrown into the TV world without their knowledge, but they are amazed to find Teddie in the real world waiting to talk to them, and are even more surprised when he reveals he has "grown" a human body inside his (previously empty) costume. While at Junes, Yu intervenes when a disturbed young man (the one who asked Yukiko out on Yu's second day of school) threatens Nanako while she is grocery-shopping. The next day at school, Yukiko is approached by the same young man who has been stalking her, but she turns down his offer to go out again. The anime series Persona 4: The Animation (ペルソナ4, Perusona Fō, stylized in Japan as "P4 Persona4 the ANIMATION") is based on the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 video game by Atlus. Produced by AIC A.S.T.A. and directed by Seiji Kishi,[1] Persona 4: The Animation revolves around Yu Narukami, a second year high school student from a city who moves to Inaba to live for a year with his uncle and cousin. After acquiring a mysterious power called "Persona", he embarks on a journey with his new friends to uncover the truth behind a bizarre series of murders involving the distorted TV World, as well as a phenomenon called the "Midnight Channel".

Overview

The episodes started airing in Japan on MBS on October 7, 2011 and have a simulcast by Anime Network in North America.[2] On November 23, 2011, Aniplex started releasing the series in DVD and Blu-ray volumes, with the first one including the first episode in a director's cut version and bonus CD single for the opening and ending themes.[3] Following volumes will contain three episodes and a single CD with the second released on December 21, 2011.[4] The anime has been licensed in North America by Sentai Filmworks for Blu-ray and DVD release during 2012.[5] Episodes are then available for stream on Hulu 24 hours after the Anime Network simulcast.[6]

The anime series features the same main Japanese voice cast from the original game.[2][7] Some minor characters have had their voice actors changed. Igor's voice actor Isamu Tanonaka died of a heart attack in 2010, so the anime uses the original recordings from the video game.

Music

Shōji Meguro returns as the composer for the series' songs and background music. The first 12 episodes used "sky's the limit" performed by Shihoko Hirata as the opening theme, and "Beauty of Destiny" by Hirata featuring Lotus Juice as the ending theme. When the second season began with episode 13, the opening theme changed to "key plus words" performed by Hirata featuring Yumi Kawamura, and episode 14 began the use of a new ending theme titled "The Way of Memories (Kizuna no Chikara)" (The Way of Memories -キズナノチカラ-, subtitle literally "The Power of Bonds") performed by Hirata.[15]

The debut episode of the anime used "Pursuing My True Self", the theme song from the video game, performed by Hirata as the opening theme, while utilizing "sky's the limit" as the ending. Episode 9 used a special opening theme titled "True Story" which was performed by Rie Kugimiya as her character Rise Kujikawa. Episode 13 also had a unique ending theme titled "Koisuru Meitantei" (恋する名探偵, lit. "The Love Detective") by Yui Horie as the character Loveline (ラブリーン, Raburīn). Episode 15 has a unique opening theme as well, using "Burn My Dread", the theme song of the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 video game, performed by Kawamura. Episode 18 had a unique ending theme titled "Honto no Kimochi" (ほんとのきもち, lit. "True Feelings"), performed by Hirata.
