Hamilton's Fraser High School

It is the location of Hamilton's Fraser High School.[2] The school was one of a number of Hamilton school's affected by the 2003 gypsy moth operations in the city. In 2004, the school's compensation claim for the cost of relief teachers to cover staff absences during the operations was declined by The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.[3]

Livingstone is the location of Aberdeen Kindergarten and Aberdeen Primary School. [4] Aberdeen Primary School is a Scottish-themed school named after the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. The school accommodates for new entrant students up to year six and since 2002, has grouped those of the school into one of four clans that are named after large or influential Scottish families or leaders; Bruce (yellow), Burns (red), Duncan (blue) and Somerled (green). [5] In keeping with the Scottish theme, the school canteen is known as the Haggis Hut.[6] There are classes that offer children of Māori descent the opportunity to learn in an environment where some of the programme is taught with an emphasis on Nga Mea Māori (things Māori).[7] Marco Rojas is a notable alumni of the school.

Aberdeen Primary School history

The school was established in 1976. From the late 1980s until circa 2004, the school made "Aberdeen Pizzas" as a fundraiser[8] and has also taught students the recorder as a compulsory musical instrument. In 1998, local Super Rugby team The Chiefs visited and trained at the school. [9] In November 1999, then-Prime Minister of New Zealand Jenny Shipley visited the school and the students sang current pop hit Bring It All Back by S Club 7. [10] That month, the only fireworks-related call for the Hamilton Fire Brigade during that year's Guy Fawkes Night was made due to a firework being thrown through one of the school's classroom windows, causing significant damage.[11] In August 2001, Room 17 pupils monitored their household power use to ensure a ten percent reduction, as part of a Waikato Times project.[12] In May 2003, Shipley's successor as New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark opened the school's new art and technology block.[13]
