"Shake It" is a song by pop group Metro Station released as the third single from their self-titled debut album. It is their first charting single, reaching #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the Canadian Hot 100. The single was certified Gold by the RIAA on June 13, 2008 and later Platinum that year[1], until finally reaching 2x Platinum status at the end of January 2009, making it one of the 115 best-selling singles in U.S. history.[2]

Music video

The music video, directed by Mark Hoppus and Billie Woodruff, for the song "Shake It" was inspired by many fans who created their own versions of the video, 63 of which the band posted as a playlist on their YouTube account. The band has commented that the final product was based on the cult film The Warriors, with rival dance crews in place of gangs. The video features the four band members as they enter a theatre. Once inside the theatre, they perform the song while various dancers compete against each other around them. Cameos are made by online celebrity Jeffree Star and vocalist/guitarist Trace Cyrus' girlfriend Hanna Beth as audience members watching the dancers perform. The video ends with the police entering the theatre and forcing everyone out. Metro Station appeared on Total Request Live after the success of the song, serving milkshakes to the members of the crowd outside who could 'shake it' the best. "Shake It" By Metro Station (Mason Musso Lead) Was The First Metro Station Chart Topper. The Lyrics To The Song;

(Let's Drop!) (Yeah) (Come On) (Shake, shake)

I'll take you home if you don't leave me at the front door (leave me at the front door) Your body's cold, but girl we're getting so warm And I was thinking of ways that I could get inside (get inside) Tonight you're falling in love (let me go now) This feeling's stirring me up (here we go now)

[Pre Chorus:] Now if she does it like this, will you do it like that Now if she touches like this, will you touch her right back Now if she moves like this, will you move it like that (come on)

[Chorus:] Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, uh shake it

Your lips tremble but your eyes are in a straight stare (eyes are in a straight stare) You're on the bed but your clothes are laying right there And I was thinking of places that I could hide (i could hide) Tonight you're falling in love (let me go now) This feeling's stirring me (here we go now)

[Pre-Chorus] [Chorus]

Well I saw you dancing and I couldn't get you off my mind (I could tell that you could tell that I was taking my time) I was thinking of ways that you would stay and be mine (Your body's shaking, turn me on, so I can turn off the lights)

[Pre-Chorus] [Chorus] (2x)
