Married couple Asher and Whitney Siegel work on the pilot for their New Mexico-based HGTV show Flipanthropy, which purports to use their property development company to help locals but is criticized for gentrifying the area. Asher snaps at interviewer Monica Perez when she brings up Whitney's parents Paul and Elizabeth's reputation as slumlords, and Perez agrees to not air the interview if he gives her proof of corruption on the gaming control board of his previous employer, the Whistling River casino.

Paul gives Asher advice on dealing with his small penis, leaving him furious that Whitney told her parents about their sexual problems. They make up and have BDSM sex in which Asher masturbates himself and uses a vibrator on Whitney while pretending to be a cuckold. Asher's friend and Flipanthropy producer Dougie Schecter has him give a hundred-dollar bill to young Nala, a street vendor, for B-roll, who "curses" him when he later forcibly takes it back. Whitney sees the footage and demands he give her the money. He cannot find her at a local homeless shelter and instead gives the money to a nearby single mother, while telling Whitney that Nala had lifted the curse after he paid her.

Unable to procure Whistling River security footage for Perez, Asher clumsily infiltrates its office and covertly downloads footage from the pit boss' computer. Dougie goes on an awkward date, where he says his wife was killed in an accident while he was drunk driving, though he denies being responsible for the accident. While driving his date home, he tests his blood alcohol content and realizes he is over the legal limit, pulling over and walking her the rest of the way.

Whitney attends a Pueblo artist's gallery, but finds herself confused by the pieces and out of place socially. She and Asher are delighted to learn that she is pregnant, but quickly discover that it is an unviable ectopic pregnancy .
