Orphaned non-free image (File:Airmikisewlogo.svg)

You've uploaded File:Airmikisewlogo.svg, and indicated that it's used under Wikipedia's rules for non-free images. However, it's not presently used in any articles. Wikipedia policy requires that non-free images be either used or deleted, so if this image isn't used in an article in the next week, it will be deleted.

Image copyright problem with File:KSUWildcats logo.svg

Thanks for uploading File:KSUWildcats logo.svg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 14:27, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flags

I've decided not to vectorize the two unfree flags (as an unfree SVG image would make the resolution infinite); however I did so some slight cleaning work on those two. Also, working with such low resolution images (namely the last two) makes it difficult to create a detailed image. Let me know what you think.

Fair use rationale for File:Cdn 50 Cent Piece.PNG

Thanks for uploading File:Cdn 50 Cent Piece.PNG. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 19:46, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Air Algerielogo1.svg)

Thanks for uploading File:Air Algerielogo1.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:36, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Leduc Flag.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. License tagging for File:Connor Mah Signature.svg

Thanks for uploading File:Connor Mah Signature.svg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

USA_National_Forest_Lands.svg

There appears to be some problems with your map. Michigan, for example, is colored with the 1-3% color, but its NFS lands as a percentage of its total land area is close to 8%. Michigan has 2,872,833 acres of NFS lands, and 36,354,560 acres of total land area, which gives a percentage of NFS lands of 7.9%. Michigan actually has slightly more acres of NFS lands than Minnesota, but signficantly less acres of total land area, yet Minnesota is colored with the 5-10% color and Michigan is colored with the 1-3% color. Something doesn't jive. Phizzy 13:41, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Upon further analysis, I discovered a few other errors as well.
California, with 20.84% of land as NFS land, should be colored 20-30%. Currently colored 10-20%.
Michigan (as mentioned earlier), with 7.90% of NFS land, should be colored 5-10%. Currently colored 1-3%.
Wisconsin, with 4.40% of land as NFS land, should be colored 3-5%. Currently colored 1-3%.
South Dakota, with 4.15% of land as NFS land, should be colored 3-5%. Currently colored 5-10%.
North Carolina, with 4.03% of land as NFS land, should be colored 3-5%. Currently colored 5-10%.
Mississippi, with 3.91% of land as NFS land, should be colored 3-5%. Currently colored 5-10%.
Missouri, with 3.38% of land as NFS land, should be colored 3-5%. Currently colored 1-3%.
Florida, with 3.36% of land as NFS land, should be colored 3-5%. Currently colored 1-3%.
South Carolina, with 3.27% of land as NFS land, should be colored 3-5%. Currently colored 5-10%.
Kentucky, with 3.20% of land as NFS land, should be colored 3-5%. Currently colored 5-10%.
I also noticed that the 3-5% color was not used at all, which accounts for some of these errors. Phizzy 14:44, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Did you drawn File:Halifax Flag.svg? It doesn't appear to be a straight trace of the FOTW version as the bird if different. The city doesn't hold any original rights to the image see: File talk:Halifaxrmflag.png. So if you drew it, and it is not a straight copy, can you release it under a open license or to the public domain?

As for the other images you send me, I couldn't use the brandsoftheworld.com image for Anchorage because they merged the paths. I probably won't follow-up on either, as my focus right now is major Canadian cities and vectorizing the US state seals. Cheers! --Svgalbertian (talk) 18:14, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Piers Morgan.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with no fair use rationale uploaded after May 4, 2006 which has been tagged as not having a rationale for more than 7 days.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use Image:Piers Morgan.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Piers Morgan.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 04:53, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Connormah, I've deleted this image as the licence (cc-by-sa-3.0) and the licence on the flickr page did not match, and as such claiming it under a free licence here violates image owners copyright. On flickr this image has a no derivatives licence which is not free to upload here. It is wise to be careful and open all flickr licences before uploading as the image page does not make it clear exactly which CC licence has been picked. - Peripitus (Talk) 04:01, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

John Q Adams signature

Hi Connormah,

I'll do an Abigail Adams signature, but I'll have to do it from something I can find on the web: I can only find a tracing on Wikimedia. --Slashme (talk) 15:15, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, right, I've just seen your suggestion! Fortunately, that was exactly the one I found on the web! --Slashme (talk) 16:35, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (File:AI Icon.svg)

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:AI Icon.svg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. FileBot (talk) 07:51, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nonfree SVGs

There's only on Wikipedia because a bunch of people like yourself don't understand WP:NFCC. SVGs are not low resolution images as required by our image policy for nonfree content. Furthermore I don't appreciate people who don't do jack to actually develop articles enforcing their own styles on them. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 14:51, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll repeat my statements; go away, and learn how to properly license images. It's rather sad when applying boilerplate templates you can't even select the proper one. I'm done discussing this with you. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 21:18, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
