Thank You!

The Featured Sound Main Page Proposal Voter Barnstar
I was truly humbled by the overwhelming community support for the recent proposal to place featured sounds on the main page. The proposal closed on Tuesday with 57 people in support and only 2 in opposition.

It should take a few weeks for everything to get coded and tested, and once that is done the community will be presented with a mock up to assess on aesthetic appeal.

Finally, I invite all of you to participate in the featured sounds process itself. Whether you're a performer, an uploader, or just come across a sound file you find top quality, and that meets the featured sound criteria, you can nominate it at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates. Featured sounds is also looking for people to help assess candidates (also at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates.)

Thanks again for such a strong showing of support, and I hope to see you at featured sounds in the future.

The review is up!

You were right. Thank you so much for giving me the right advice. PR of "Irresistible" is up. The reviewer asked to covert some of the passive voice sentences to active voice. Can you help me with that? I converted one or two, and am having a hard time finding out the subject and object, lol. Novice7 (talk) 04:27, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Lol, yeah, I fixed it. Btw, can you help me out on the close paraphrasing issue? If you're not free, it's okay :) Novice7 (talk) 03:46, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Adabow, is it okay if I use "hebdomadally" instead of "each week"? Novice7 (talk) 04:29, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Lol, okay. It is a rare word, so I thought I should use it :D Novice7 (talk) 04:47, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Destiny's Child

Hi my friend. Most of Beyonce's Singles have been taken to GAs. A few articles remain but information is too scarce. So i was a bit surprised when i saw that at her Wiki project, the majority of her articles are classified as Start Class. Then, i saw that all Destiny's Child article are associated to her Wiki project. So i am going to revamp the Destiny's child singles one by one. Will you help? Jivesh Talk2Me 18:05, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Well, i did not really mean that i did not want to do Beyonce's DVDs or tours. It's just that i do not know how to expand them. i have asked for help countless times but no one was ready to do so. So, i prefer switching to Destiny Child articles as they also form part of the Wiki-project.
And wow, you have all that information. It will be of great help. Thanks in advance By the way, you did an amazing job on Above and Beyonce. I would really like you taking all her DVDs to GA. I shall work on I Am... World Tour in the near future. Jivesh Talk2Me 11:30, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Can we use this to source that Beyonce's debut album sold 11 million copies? Jivesh Talk2Me 11:35, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Well you kind of convinced me. So i am going to stick on Bey's articles. Jivesh Talk2Me 15:17, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Have a look at this. It is simply great. Can it be used? Jivesh Talk2Me 16:51, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. By the way, i am starting to work on "I Am... tour". Whenever you get time, give me a short list with notes about what it needs. Does the concert synopsis require references? Jivesh Talk2Me 05:52, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. Jivesh Talk2Me 07:13, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

RE: Halo

Thank you so much for those links, and for the heads-up :D. If you want to make some comments with a neutral ending, I have no problem Tbhotch* ۩ ۞ 06:49, 29 March 2011 (UTC).

Hank Williams

The article has no citations??? How's that??? all the statements in the article are properly sourced. I think that there's been a confusion by a recent change maid by a person that corrected copy edits that separated in smaller paragraphs the sourced material. I will correct this and maybe you can give it another look, since I wrote the article in base of some of the articles you previously cited.--GDuwenTell me! 15:21, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

No problem, I didn't realize neither of that until I read the article again. The format was changed and most of the sources displaced. I will renominate it again later.--GDuwenTell me! 20:33, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Hey Adabow. For the sake of the GAN elimination drive, how's thereview coming along? GamerPro64 (talk) 19:58, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 March newsletter

We are half way through round two of the WikiCup, which will end on 28 April. Of the 64 current contestants, 32 will make it through to the next round; the two highest in each pool, and the 16 next highest scorers. At the time of writing, our current overall leader is Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions) with 231 points, who leads Pool H. Poland Piotrus (submissions) (Pool G) also has over 200 points, while 9 others (three of whom are in Pool D) have over 100 points. Remember that certain content (specifically, articles/portals included in at least 20 Wikipedias as of 31 December 2010 or articles which are considered "vital") is worth double points if promoted to good or featured status, or if it appears on the main page in the Did You Know column. There were some articles last round which were eligible for double points, but which were not claimed for. For more details, see Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring.

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round three is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. J Milburn and The ed17 00:50, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Femme Fatale

So, I got myself the album (I downloaded it off OVI as I couldn't wait :D).. It's amazin'!! But, "Big Fat Bass" sounds too BEP-y. The tracks I liked are "Criminal", "Trouble for Me", "I Wanna Go", "Inside Out".... Novice7 (talk) 06:22, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

I can't choose. All the tracks are too good :P How was April 1? Novice7 (talk) 06:27, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Lol, I didn't buy the copy yet. I took it off OVI (cheaper and lossy). I'll be going for the Deluxe Edition soon (physical copy). I liked the song "Gasoline" (kinda resembles "Toxic") too :) Well, practical jokes are more prevalent. Omg, I haven't seen the DYKs yet, but I did see the AfDs. Novice7 (talk) 10:03, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Lol, it's funny :D I was looking at this. Lmao, too funny. Novice7 (talk) 10:45, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Lol, I love it too! Almost all of Ellen pranks are funny :D (like this) Novice7 (talk) 05:12, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Re

Adabow, please read it well. It has been stated otherwise. And do you think that "Crazy in Love" would have got a GOLD certification for only 47000 digital downloads? And "Baby Boy" PLATINUM for 6000 downloads? Jivesh Talk2Me 08:26, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

If you search RIAA database, you will see a small DI below the certification. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:27, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Please read the reply of Paul again. I am not fabulating anything. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:27, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Carlo asked about Beyonce's Dangerously In Love Pt. 2 (130K), her Irremplazable (Spanish-language) EP (57K) and Jay-Z's '03 Bonnie & Clyde (317K).

Next, I have a question about Usher's Love In This Club Pt. 2 (366K), Justin Timberlake/Beyonce's Until The End Of Time (271K plus 37K for a solo entry), and Beyonce's Live At Wembley (197K). Lara March asked about Beyonce's Diva (906K), Ego (357K) and Sweet Dreams (1,488,000). [...] Matteo Carta wants to know about physical sales of three Beyonce singles: Crazy In Love (47K), Baby Boy (6K) and Me Myself And I (119K).

Jivesh Talk2Me 08:31, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

It does not matter Adabow. We are all human beings. Lol. The smiley was nice. Adabow, since you worked on Above and Beyonce, why don't you take her other DVDs to GA? If you want, i will help. I will be on holidays as from this week. I will start working on her discography and her "I Am... tour" as well as "I Am... World Tour". The last one will not require me so much time. I mean i think so because i added all the existing information months ago. Please reply. Jivesh Talk2Me 05:11, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Adabow, if you do not mind, let me complete the discography. I have already done so much on it. Well, we may work together if you want. Concerning her videography, it really requires attention. Anyway, i forgot to ask you. What's up in real life? Still going to school or are you on holidays? Jivesh Talk2Me 05:24, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

By the way, Ratizi has started working on Beyonce's mixtapes and DVDs. Jivesh Talk2Me 05:26, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

I also have to weeks as holidays. Do you live in Australia or New Zealand? Jivesh Talk2Me 05:28, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

It seems that you hate Australia. May i know why? Jivesh Talk2Me 05:33, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

I have heard that Australians are racist. They do not like foreigners. By the way, was your country hit by any cyclones this year? Jivesh Talk2Me 05:38, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Yes, i heard about it. Well, i live in a tropical island. We normally have twelve cyclonic formations. This year, we got only three. And none hit the island. I have seen a cyclone making landfall on Mauritius or passing at a distance of at least 100 KM since 2002. Well Adabow, i have to go now. I am leaving for tuition: Chemistry and Statistics. Bye. See you soon. Till then, take care. Jivesh Talk2Me 05:44, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Pretending an edit is vandalism

  • WP:NPA - #Accusations about personal behavior that lack evidence.
  • WP:VANDAL - #Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. Examples of typical vandalism are adding irrelevant obscenities and crude humor to a page, illegitimately blanking pages, and inserting patent nonsense into a page.
  • WP:Avoid the word "vandal"

Bearian's edit comment essentially said "reverting vandal" - implying my removal of the See Also link that lacked any external coverage qualifying it to behave like a category (See here, here) is "vandalism" because he doesn't like it.

Can you explain how this is not a personal attack by its very definition? Bulldog123 14:17, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

  • (*sigh*) The gentleman doth protest too much, methinks. Perhaps “revert disruptive edit” would have been more appropriate wording. Inasmuch as Bulldog has a long track record of tendentious editing that is strongly punctuated with…
  1. behavior such as nominating articles for AfDs,
  2. and then tag-bombing articles when the AfDs fail, as well as,
  3. wholesale deletion of material from articles he disapproves of (this being an issue over another one of those), and
  4. since Bulldog knows full well the community has just about reached the end of its rope with someone who is rather inescapably a single-purpose account, (his contributions),
…“vandal” isn’t too far off the mark, IMHO.(Disclaimer)
It also seems to me that bitterly complaining about being the recipient of a personal attack took some hubris since Bulldog appears to have applied the Chicago style of local elections to the practice: engage in personal attacks early and often. Greg L (talk) 22:09, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
Please see WP:SPADE and WP:DUCK. Bulldog123 is plainly a POV pusher, and has a record to prove it. I put my biases and COI right up front. I think he ought to be the subject of a RfC. Bearian (talk) 02:12, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
I've replied at User talk:Bearian#Apology. Let's keep the discussion there. Bulldog123 06:41, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Bulldog, I did not call you a vandal, I just reverted an edit that was neither vandalism nor an attack. Do not use edit summaries to score points with other editors. If other editors wish to look into this or it is taking to RfC, the related diffs are Bearian's edit Bulldog's revert and my un-revert. Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:33, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

  • But you didn't give a reasoning other than "it was not an attack," even though it was. The original reasoning for removing the link remains and was not even contested by Bearian (though it should have been if he wanted to revert). His claims on the edit summaries were flat-out false. However, if you feel the removal of the See Also link was also not appropriate, you can show me the external coverage for such a category (black Golden Globe nominees) and I'll be receptive to it at Talk:Beyonce Knowles. Bulldog123 06:10, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
      • Bulldog and Bearian asked me to comment also--my reply is on their talk pages. DGG ( talk ) 23:39, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Template:El

I noticed that you created the redirect Template:El to Template:External links.

However EL is the ISO 639-1 language code for Greek so when you put {{el}} in front of a Greek language reference then the External links template box is inserted instead of Template:El icon ({{el icon}}). Would you consider redirecting Template:El to Template:El icon instead?

See the talk page and please reply there if you want to comment. SpeakFree (talk) 12:00, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

What happened

To Nathan? I don't get it, it's just so sad :( I was working on some article, I look his contribs up, he is blocked! Novice7 (talk) 05:25, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Indef is not a good idea at all. Oh well, let's see what happens. Novice7 (talk) 05:46, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Beyonce album

No problem. I'm excited too about the album! (: its not that long to go before its June. Have you seen these shoots from her new music video? Ozurbanmusic (talk) 05:43, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

I like the outfit, but she does look old. I hope the video's not cheap. Ozurbanmusic (talk) 05:49, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Billboard Dead Links

Hi. Can you please explain to me how you fix dead links from Billboard? Jivesh Talk2Me 07:48, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you Adabow. By the way, the just yell was funny. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:01, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Okay. Jivesh Talk2Me 09:42, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Please help me find a reliable source for this.

Beyoncé is currently the only artist in history to have all her studio albums win the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album, and debut at the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 throughout her solo music career.

Jivesh Talk2Me 09:42, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. Do you think Beyoncé Knowles discography is ready for a FL nomination? I just need to improve the lead. I did the maximum. But i think instead of improving it, i expanded it. Lol. Jivesh Talk2Me 10:20, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Credits

Unfortunately what the author wants and what is allowed are two completely different things. Per WP:MOS subsection WP:CREDITS "Unless relevant to the subject, do not credit the image author or copyright holder in the article. It is assumed that this is not necessary to fulfill attribution requirements of the GFDL or Creative Commons licenses as long as the appropriate credit is on the image description page." The later in bold means that to comply with free images (which is what they are) attribution on the description page is required and not allowed anywhere else. (Reply here, your watchlisted) - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 04:46, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

I think that it is up to the author to decide the form of attribution, but anyway I've left a question at WP:MCQ. It would be much easier if he didn't ask for this.... *sigh* Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:57, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your participation in the March 2011 GAN backlog elimination drive

On behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, we would like to take the time and thank you for your contributions made as part of the March 2011 Good articles backlog elimination drive. Awards and barnstars will go out shortly for those who have reviewed a certain number of articles.

During the backlog drive, in the month of March 2011,

  • 522 GA nominations were undertaken.
  • 423 GA nominations passed.
  • 72 GA nominations failed.
  • 27 GA nominations were on hold.

We started the GA backlog elimination drive with 378 GA nominations remaining, with 291 that were not reviewed at all. By 2:00, April 1, 2011, the backlog was at 171 GA nominations, with 100 that were left unreviewed.

At the start of the drive, the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 101 days (Andrei Kirilenko (politician), at 20 November 2010, reviewed and passed 1 March 2011); at the end of the drive the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 39 days (Gery Chico, at 24 February 2011, still yet to be reviewed as of this posting).

While we did not achieve the objective of getting the backlog of outstanding GA nominations down to below 50, we reduced the GA backlog by over half. The GA reviews also seemed to be of a higher quality and have consistently led, to say the least, to marginal improvements to those articles (although there were significant improvements to many, even on the some of the nominations that were failed).

If you would like to comment on the drive itself and maybe even make suggestions on how to improve the next one, please make a comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles/GAN backlog elimination drives/March 2011#Feedback. Another GA backlog elimination drive is being planned for later this year, tentatively for September or October 2011. Also, if you have any comments or remarks on how to improve the Good article process in general, Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles can always use some feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles.

Again, on behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, thank you for making the March 2011 GA backlog elimination drive a success.
