I was wondering why you removed two thirds of the "In popular culture" section of the [[Jawn]] article. The examples that you removed had sources with the information present. Revision as of 21:08, 10 April 2020

A tag has been placed on Category:Defecting athletes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Bacondrum

Do not Wikistalk other users. Every time you do something like that, you undermine your complaints about Bacondrum and attract attention to your own actions and make it seem that this is a problem with you, rather than a bilateral issue or a problem of his actions. Admins typically look at both parties in any dispute, and the best course is to be above reproach. Guy (help!) 09:14, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@JzG: This is a highly undue and inappropriate warning. He marked a section at Beulah, Victoria as unreferenced, which it is. It's an entirely different section from the one Bacondrum added, which was then removed by third editor. Jweiss11 (talk) 12:55, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Prod signatures

Please do not use your signature in a prod, just give your reason in the concern parameter. Jerod Lycett (talk) 21:45, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jerodlycett, thanks for heads up. Didn't realize that was incorrect. Loksmythe (talk) 21:51, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Mixed martial arts in New York

On 5 February 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mixed martial arts in New York, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 2016, New York became the 50th U.S. state to legalize and regulate mixed martial arts? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mixed martial arts in New York. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Mixed martial arts in New York), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I just lost a lot of work on The Right Side of History page because of your edit conflict.

Had a whole Background section going, and your edits undid all that. :/ TheEpicGhosty (talk) 23:24, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Uhhhhhhh... sorry TheEpicGhosty. Here eat this trout to make you feel better. Loksmythe (talk) 15:56, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Whack!
You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know you did something silly.

@Loksmythe: better! TheEpicGhosty (talk) 15:57, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from Advanced Thermal Recycling (ATR) system, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! New page reviewer granted

Hi Loksmythe. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encylopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 23:21, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Turyal Azam Khan

Hello, I would like to question the speedy deletion of Turyal Azam Khan. The subject in question has covered and has been widely covered in the entertainment journalism medium. There are little to no articles of that sort of Wikipedia. Hence, the person in question is of huge relevance. You can google Turyal Azam Khan in order to authenticate this.

List of New York City Parks relating to Jewish Culture

Why are you proposing deletion for this page? Do you find it easier to delete than to make the necessary corrections? This list is the only detailed list available anywhere on the subject of NYC Parks relating to Jewish names--Queens Historian (talk) 17:53, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Metro Township

I declined your speedy deletion request on a couple of grounds.

First, take a minute to carefully read WP:A1, which says "If any information in the title or on the page, including links, allows an editor, possibly with the aid of a web search, to find further information on the subject in an attempt to expand or edit it, A1 is not appropriate." The article said exactly what a metro township is -- a type of municipal government.

Second, nominating the article for deletion one minute after creation is a great way to give people the impression that Wikipedia is an awful place to contribute. New contributors often create articles in pieces, over several minutes -- unless the article is clearly vandalism, give the editor a chance to make it into something we can work with.----Fabrictramp | talk to me 19:01, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fabrictramp, good points. Will act accordingly in future, thanks. Loksmythe (talk) 19:03, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Renew Democracy Initiative logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:00, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jawn Cleanup

I was wondering why you removed two thirds of the "In popular culture" section of the Jawn article. The examples that you removed had sources with the information present. Goontalk 07:55, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Goonsnick, that material was based on poor/insufficient sourcing. See WP:Identifying and using independent sources and Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Loksmythe (talk) 20:08, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
