Last I looked, Wikimedia was making $10M profit. That would be enough to pay it's admins (many of whom are retired or on disability or otherwise low income) minimum/living wage for the most important (and tedious functions) such as Vandal Patrol and other admin functions. Just an idea. Any suggestions? - [[User:Stillwaterising|Stillwaterising]] ([[User talk:Stillwaterising#top|talk]]) 04:56, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello! Welcome to my talk page!

Please feel free to to leave me a message, whether it's informing me of something
I screwed up, just to say hello, or anything else! I won't bite!

I have a few requests that I hope you'll respect while posting here:

  1. First and above all, be civil.
    • If you don't agree with an action I made—be it reverted you and left a warning, marked your page for deletion, or anything else—please be calm and polite. I am a reasonable man, and we'll straighten it out a lot quicker without screaming and name calling.
  2. Please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~)
  3. Please start new conversations at the bottom.
  4. I generally like to keep conversations together.
    • If you post here, I'll reply here and leave you a message informing you of my reply.
    • If I leave you a message on your talk page, I'll keep watching it, but if you want to make sure I notice it quickly, leave me a {{talkback}} template (although not necessary).
      • I always keep conversations together. If we separate the messages, no big deal, I'll probably go back and cross post here.

Since that is out of the way, please click here and leave a message!

My Retirement

I've had an interesting time on Wikipedia. Had some good experiences, (and not so good ones). I have a wish Wikipedia, and Wikipedians, well however I have other things I must do. (To be continued?) - Stillwaterising (talk) 23:26, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello sorry to get back to you so late. I deleted so much info off of the List of Awards and Nominations for Melanie C because it was only on a talk page, and so I put it on an actual page that can be seen and referenced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Taylord014 (talkcontribs) 21:01, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Project citation clean-up (or whatever it's called)

I notice you have a special interest in medical stuff. I suggest you hie yourself over to new user Anna Karolina Heinrich who has added a page about Waldemar Olszewski. He is a Polish expert in matters lymphatic, and has written several armsful of papers and books. I did make a start with {{cite pmid}} but got confused with two apparently different papers sharing the same number (more than once). In fact documentation for {{cite pmid}} was sparse and confusing.

I'm OK checking general citations, it's the specialized ones I find a bit tricky. I don't think said user Anna has English as first language, but it's good enough. Many of the doctor's works are in not-English, principally Polish.

Enjoy! John of Cromer in Philippines (talk) mytime= Mon 00:36, wikitime= 16:36, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)

Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization consisting of over 28,000 volunteers in more than 100 countries. The collaboration was formed to organize medical scholarship in a systematic way in the interests of evidence-based research: the group conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.

Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account. Thank you Cochrane!

If you are stil active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Texas College of Traditional Chinese Medicine logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading File:Texas College of Traditional Chinese Medicine logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 16:51, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New REFBot

There is a suggestion on Wikipedia:Bot requests#New REFBot for a new REFBot working as DPL bot and BracketBot do. I beg politely for consideration. Please leave a comment if you wish. Thanks a lot in anticipation. -- Frze (talk · contribs) 04:30, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Life Update - Wikimedia paid admins suggestion

Well, it's been 10 months since I've made an edit. I'm doing better, mentally at least. I moved out of my old apartment with toxic black mold (Stachybotrys) and 2milligauss of background powerline radiation into a quieter yet livelier community. My health ain't great but at least my mental state is better.

I'm not sure I really want to spent most of my spare time "Wikipeding" like I used to. My enthusiasm for the Project has waned. I view Wikimedia Corp. as a "for-profit non-profit". The "product" is the encyclopedia and the buyers are the search engine companies (Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc.). The "workers" are all unpaid volunteers, who often pour their heart and soul into The Project.

- Stillwaterising (talk) 04:56, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
