The 1966 English cricket season featured an entertaining Test series between England and West Indies. The great West Indian all-rounder Gary Sobers had an outstanding series.

In domestic cricket, Yorkshire, led by Brian Close, won the County Championship in what would be the first of a hat-trick of titles to 1968. Close finished the season as England's captain too.
