- March 22 - The criminal trial against Marc Dutroux ends. He's sentenced to a life time imprisonment.
- April 24 - Sporting Anderlecht wins the Belgian First Division
- July 30 - A gas pipe explodes in the industrial area of Gellingen, Hainaut. 24 people didn't survive the accident.
- August 21 - Justine Henin wins Olympic gold by winning the Olympic final against French tennis player Amélie Mauresmo.
- August 29 - The 2004 Belgian Grand Prix takes place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, and is won by Kimi Räikkönen.[1]
- November 14 - The Flemish political party Vlaams Blok ceases activity and after reforms restarts as Vlaams Belang.
