Robert Gerald Casey (born September 23, 1967) is an American priest of the Catholic Church and serves as auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Biography

Early life

Robert Gerald Casey is a native of Evergreen Park, Illinois, a southwest suburb of Chicago. He grew up the Chicago suburb of Alsip, where he attended public schools before going to Marist High School. He is the fourth of five children of Michael Casey, a butcher, and Margaret Casey, a nurse. [1]

Vocation and Priesthood

Casey first considered the priesthood in high school, then attended what was then Niles College Seminary of Loyola University, graduating with a degree in English. [2] On May 21, 1994, Casey was ordained to the priesthood.

Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago

Pope Francis appointed Casey auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago on July 3, 2018.[3][4]  On September 17, 2018, Casey was consecrated as a bishop.
