Rahmatabad (Template:Lang-fa, also Romanized as Raḥmatābād; also known as Raḥmatābād-e Rīgān)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Rahmatabad District of Rigan County, Kerman province, Iran.[4]
At the 2006 census, its population was 3,615 in 737 households, when it was a village in Rigan Rural District of the former Rigan District of Bam County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 4,731 people in 1,103 households, by which time the rural district had been separated from the county in the establishment of the new Rigan County.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 5,055 people in 1,307 households.[2]
In 2019, the villages of Abbasabad-e Sardar and Rahmatabad were elevated to the status of cities.[7] In 2023, Posht-e Rig Rural District was established in the Central District, and Sadabad Rural District was established in the newly formed Rahmatabad District, with the city of Rahmatabad as the district capital.[4]
