Gateways School is an independent school in Harewood, West Yorkshire, England.

The school is situated just north of Leeds and is part of the wider Harewood community. It is part of the GSA.

Curriculum

The school curriculum is in line with, but not restricted by, the National Curriculum. Pupils usually take GCSEs in ten subjects and A Levels in four. The school frequently appears highly in league table rankings.

Faculties

Subjects are organised into four faculties: Science and Mathematics, Humanities, Classical and Modern Languages and Creative Arts.

The Science and Mathematics faculty is made up of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, economics, business studies and Information and Communications Technology (ICT), and is based in the Schofield Building which houses ICT, science and language laboratories.

The Humanities faculty includes English, history, geography, religious studies and media studies, and modern and ancient languages – Latin, Greek, Classical Civilisation, French, German and Spanish. Most of the traditional humanities subjects are taught in the Dower House, a 200-year-old traditional Yorkshire stone villa.

The Classical and Modern Language Faculty teaches ancient and modern languages – Latin, Ancient Greek, French, German and Spanish. Classical languages are taught in the Watson building, and modern languages in dedicated rooms within the Schofield building language suite. A multi-media language laboratory is shared by modern and classical languages.

The Creative Arts Faculty includes art, ICT, drama, technology, music and PE. The faculty facilities include a multi-purpose sports hall, fitness room, climbing wall, outdoor courts and track and field sports. It contains art studios, a performing arts theatre and drama studio, and a dedicated music house and food technology rooms. In the summer of 2011 the school built a new dance studio. All areas incorporate ICT within their work using the ICT facilities across the school.
