Ali Javad oglu Ahmedov (azərb. Əhmədov Əli Cavad oğlu) – Azerbaijani political figure, deputy prime minister, deputy chair/executive secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party, doctor of philosophy, head of the Department of Sociology and Political Science at Baku State University.

Biography

Ali Ahmedov was born on January 27, 1953 in the village of Dara in Basarkechar district of the Armenian SSR. He has graduated from the History Department of the Moscow State Historical and Archival Institute.[1]

Since 1975, he worked as the chief scientific officer of the Main archive Department, then as the Director of the Central scientific archive of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

Since 1980, he worked as a laboratory assistant, teacher, senior teacher, associate Professor, head of the Department at the Azerbaijan State University.

In 1999–2000, he was the head of the Executive Committee of the Khatai district of Baku.

In 1999, at the first Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party, he was elected as an Executive Secretary.

On March 26, 2005, Ali Ahmedov was elected as a Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party.

From 2000 to 2013, he was a Deputy of the second, third and fourth convocations of the National Assembly (Milli Majlis) of Azerbaijan.[1]

Marital status: married, two children.

Awards

On January 25, 2013, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order awarding Ali Ahmedov with the "Shohrat" order.[2]
