The 2013–14 George Mason Patriots men's basketball team represented George Mason University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was the 48th season for the program. The Patriots, led by third year head coach Paul Hewitt, played their inaugural season in the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10), after spending the past 28 years in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). They finished the season 11–20, 4–12 in A-10 play to finish in 12th place. They lost in the first round of the A-10 Tournament to Fordham.

Season notes

  • George Mason will participate in the 2013 Diamond Head Classic Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii.[1]
  • On April 9, 2013 it was announced that redshirt junior guard Vertrail Vaughns will transfer from the program for the 2013-14 season.[2]
  • On April 17, 2013 it was announced that redshirt junior forward Paris Bennett will transfer from the program for the 2013-14 season.[3]
  • The Patriots will play two scrimmages prior to the season against Seton Hall & Georgetown.
  • George Mason will open their season Friday November 8 vs American University at the Patriot Center.
  • George Mason will play Oklahoma on December 8 at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC as part of the BB&T Classic.
  • The following teams will visit the Patriot Center during the 2013-14 season: American (Nov 8), St. Francis (PA) (Nov. 19), South Florida (Dec. 4), Northern Iowa, Rhode Island, George Washington, Saint Louis, UMass, Duquesne, Dayton, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's.
  • George Mason will travel to the following schools during the 2013-14 season: Lamar (Nov 12), Iona (Nov 23), Princeton (Nov 26), Old Dominion, George Washington, Saint Louis, UMass, Duquesne, Fordham, La Salle, Rhode Island, VCU.
