^Coaches did not release a Week 2 poll
Because of the abrupt ending of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been debate on a mythical national championship for the program as a result of the final poll results. Staley is claiming such a national championship, as the team finished first in both major polls (the traditional claim of a consensus national champion in college football).[6]
