Filatov & Karas is a Russian musical duo. They are known for their remixes and deep house tracks. A duo is composed of Dmitry Filatov and Alexey Osokin, as well as singer Alida (vocals in the song Возьми моё сердце and some others). In 2019, the singer Svetlana Afanasyeva also joined the duo (the track Возьми моё сердце with Burito and the rewriting of the band’s old hits).

History

Dmitry Filatov and Alexey Osokin met in 2012 after more than 10 years of work separately, publishing solo singles, albums, winning local awards and conducting radio programs. They formed a group called Red Ninjas, however, the project proved unsuccessful and two years later they decided to start as a duo called Filatov & Karas. Their first single was the song Remedy released by Adapter Records but it did not gain popularity. At the same time the duo began recording remixes of pop music. They were famous for the remix of The Good, The Bad and The Crazy by the French singer Imany. For 10 weeks it remained in the first place on the Russian iTunes list, it was also well received by radio stations. He also took sixth place on the list of twenty best-selling songs throughout the year. Thanks to the success of the remix, the publisher asked the duo to create a remix for another artist's single Don't Be So Shy. Released at the end of 2015, it achieved radio success in Eastern Europe for the first time and became a hit. In Western European countries, the remix was released at the beginning of 2016. This remix reached number one on the charts first in Poland, then in Germany, Austria and France, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Ukraine, Romania, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Turkey and many others. He was awarded the gold record in Austria and Denmark, platinum in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Norway and Sweden, double platinum in Germany, Switzerland and Italy and diamonds in France and Poland.

The duo was particularly successful in Poland. Two more singles released in 2016 and 2017 (Taylor Dayne's cover of Tell It To My Heart and author's Time Won't Wait) were at the top of the Polish charts. In Russia, however, new versions of old songs such as Лирика (cover of Sektor Gaza's song) or Остаться С Тобой (sample from the song Группа Крови by Kino) are extremely popular.

Dmitry Filatov

He was born on September 21, 1981. He began his musical career in 1998. From 2004 to 2006 he was one of the members of the Sound Fiction music project. In 2006 he became a resident of the British label Solaris Recordings. From November 22, 2005 he was the author and host of the Dinamika radio program (Russian: Динамика) on the Megapolis 89.5 FM station. In January 2007 he was awarded the Russian Dance Music Awards in the Club Song of the Year category (Russian: Клубный Tрек Года) for the song Утром я Солнце. In the years 2009-2014 the Динамика radio program was broadcast on DFM radio.

Alexey Osokin

He was born on May 19, 1979 in Moscow. He became interested in DJing in the 90s. In addition to his work under the pseudonym Karas, he created as DJ Barmaley, DJ Moto and Raduga. He created official remixes of songs, including Philipp Kirkorov, Alla Pugacheva or the group Mumiy Troll. Together with DJ Ice he formed the Man-Ro group. Their song Bamabarbia was noticed by the Italian publishing house Hit! Records and released in France in 2005. In 2007 he was the of the radio program DanceПлощадка on ЮFM. In 2012 he was a resident of DFM radio and one of the participants of the festival Станция 2012. He is the founder of Adapter Records.
