Rie Shibata (柴田 理恵 , Shibata Rie , born 14 January 1959) is a Japanese actress and comedian. She is also the special deputy mayor of Toyama, Toyama . She is the Ambassador of kombu in Rausu, Hokkaido .
Biography
She was born on 14 January 1959 in Toyama, Toyama (formerly Yatsuo , Nei District ). Her mother's house is a well-established inn, and during the summer vacation she helped with customer service.[ 1]
After going to Yao High School, she went to Meiji University Department of literature. After graduating from university, she joined the Gekidan Tokyo Vodovil Show, but withdrew in 1984, and launched Wahaha-Hompo with Masahiro Sato and Masami Hisamoto . Since then, she stood on stage as a signboard actress[ 2] at Wahaha-Hompo, and also broadened her range of activities for films, television dramas, and variety shows.
In May 2005 she received a UAE (uterine artery embolization) at a general hospital in Tokyo , and was discharged after two nights and three days and immediately took part in the shooting of a TV drama. Then her myoma gradually shrank and the uterus is said to be one quarter of the size after a two year treatment.[ 3]
She played the role as a high school teacher in the film The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift produced by Universal Pictures in the United States in June 2006 and played her Hollywood debut.
In August 2013, she was appointed Konbu Ambassador from Rausu, Hokkaido .[ 4] In June 2016 she was appointed Special Vice Mayor of Toyama City and received Mayor's Masashi Mori's commission from a hand-made Yao Washi .
In the tarento popularity survey (female department) of February 2017 by Video Research , she ranked 42nd, near Mirei Kiritani and Suzu Hirose .[ 5]
Personal life
At the age of 28, she married a stage director of Wahaha-Hompo who was a student classmate,[ 6] took over the audience at the theater and took on the "public wedding ceremony". As her husband renamed when married, Shibata's surname did not change even after marriage.
When she was performing allocation in Nagoya city in the latter half of the 2000s, she found that a puppy was thrown away in the mountain of illegally dumped trash. Shibata originally left the puppy in an animal hospital, but when no one adopted it, she adopted it and named it "Harutaro".[ 7] [ 8] [ 9]
She joined Soka Gakkai in 1987 and later joined the Central Committee of the Arts Department.[ 10]
