Tangi is a Tehsil (town as in some places) and union council of Charsadda District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan[1].

Overview and History

It is one of eight towns in Hashtnagar and is located at 34°18'0N 71°39'14E with an altitude of 327 metres (1076 feet) lying to the north-west of the district capital - Charsadda[2].

The notable attractions of Tangi are Stone built mosque (Gato jumat) Tangi Barazai Daulat Khel, Old Bachayan Hujra (Nasratzai) of Noble Sahibzada Saif-Ur-Rehman Bacha, Old Hindu temple Tangi Barazai Daulat Khel, Old Hujra Khan Bahadur Mir Alam Khan Tangi Barazai Daulatkhel, Hujra Daud Khan (Aashiyana Abdul Akbar Khan), Daud Institute of Learning and Motivation (DILM), Government College Tangi, Tangi Bazaar (Barazai), Masjid Abdul Akbar Khan (Nasratzai), Irrigation Canal at Nehr Gara, Tangi Hospital, CHOPAAL-Restaurant, Government High School No 1 old building Tangi Barazai, old British built bridge (tattoono pull) Tangi Barazai, Tarakai Mountain

Some beautiful and scenic picnic spots are Pir Baba in Mohmand Agency close to Tangi, CHOPAAL-Restaurant Tangi (Chawatra) and Kanewar famous for Chappli Kabab.

Some of the notable personalities of Tangi are Khan Bahadur Mir Alam Khan Tangi barazai Daulat khel , Khan Ghulam Qadir Khan and Khan Fazle Qadir Khan (Both landlords) who occupied the largest land in the district of Charsadda and second to the Nawab of Hoti, Mardan in the province, Sahibzada Saif-Ur-Rehman Bacha, Wawah Khan (Mr. Usman Ali Khan), Chacha Khan (Mr. Yaqoob Khan), Mr. Sher Ali Khan, Mr. Iqbal Khan, who all were land lords and some government office bearers such Mr. Syed Sahibzada Khalid Hussain Bacha, who was former Commissioner Mardan Division Mardan and parliamentarians such as Mr. Daud Khan (1985-87), Mr. Taimoor Khan (2008-2013), Khalid Mohamand (2013-17).

A notable achievement for Tangi came on 25 March 2018 when Dr. Nadeem Jan resident of Tangi Nusratzai Mohallah Fateh Kheil was awarded the prestigious award of Tamgha e Imtiaz https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the president of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This was the first time in the history of entire District Charsadda and Tehsil Tangi that such honor has been earned by its resident.Dr. Nadeem Jan was also earlier awarded " The Highest civil Award" by Somalian President which is the 1st time in history that a foreigner has been decorated with this award by the Somalian Government. Dr. Nadeem Jan is also recipient of Prestigious Civil awards from US and Philippines Government.

Educational Institutes

Tangi is home to many good educational institutes. The most notable are Government Degree College Tangi[5] and Govt Girls Degree College Tangi Charsadda[6].
