Matu'u is internationally capped by Samoa, of which his debut came of the bench against the United States during the 2015 World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup.[2] He represented Samoa in the 2015 Rugby World Cup,[3] and on 23 August 2019, he was named in Samoa's 34-man training squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup,[4] before being named in the final 31 on 31 August.[5]
