Cas Anvar (Persian: کاس انور[citation needed]; born March 15, 1966)[1][2][3] is a Canadian actor, voice actor, and writer.

Early life

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, to Iranian parents[4] and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Anvar speaks English, French, Persian, and some limited Arabic, Urdu, and Spanish.[5] He graduated from Beaconsfield High in 1983.[6][7]

Career

Anvar graduated from the National Theatre School in 1989.[4] As Repercussion Theatre's founding Artistic Director, he worked with the company, since 1988 touring parks of Montreal, then North America, with annual Shakespeare in the Park Festival.[8][2] Meanwhile, he continued performing in theatre[9] and, after debuting in Urban Angel in 1992, in television and film.[3]

He is best known as Alex Kamal on The Expanse. Anvar appeared as Dodi Fayed with Naomi Watts in Diana in 2013.[10] From 2014, he is a main character on the science fiction television series The Expanse[11] which began airing in December 2015, and now has its fourth season developed and released as an Amazon Prime production. In 2016, he joined season 3 of The Strain as Sanjay Desai.

Anvar affirms that he seeks out stories where he can convey his values: "I have a lot of passion for women's rights, domestic abuse, bullying".[12]

In June 2020, Alcon Entertainment hired an independent firm to investigate multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault made against Anvar.[13][14]
