[1]Tineoidea is the ditrysian superfamily of around 4000 moths species including clothes moths, carpet moths, bagworms and relatives. [2]There are five families usually included within it, Eriocottidae, Dryadaulidae, Meessiidae, Tineidae and Psychidae,[3] whose systematics are still under‐studied.
Some authors merge the Tineoidea and all or part of the Gracillarioidea; in this case the Tineoidea sensu stricto are downranked to a series Tineiformes.
