Harnawa is a village in Parbatsar Tehsil of Nagaur district in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
The village situated midway between Degana railway station and Parbatsar towns Near Gachhipura railway station.
It is known as the birthplace of Ranabai, a revered warrior girl, born on 1543 AD (aksya trirtya), in the family of Jalam Singh Dhoon. Khojiji (Chatur Das ji maharaj) was the religious guru of Ranabai. She didn't marry. One day her father was coming from Khinyala. He was arrested by ghosts in Gechhala Pond. They threatened him to kill until he gives vachan of the marriage of her daughter with a ghost named Bohara. So Jalam Singh engaged her daughter with Bohara. On the fixed date the ghost family came to marry Rana. Having spiritually power Rana pushed them out of the village. Thus she is worshiped by Hindu People. Two patriots of Harnawa sacrificed their lives for our nation. One of them is Mr.Ramkaran Thakan who sacrificed life during Meghdoot operation on 19 August1991. Subedar Mangej Singh Rathore sacrificed his life during Kargil war. He was awarded The Veer Chakra . The land of Harnawa is the birthplace of brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives and also a spiritual Land. The Ranabai temple famous for devotion attracts thousands of people every year. The bravery, patriotism that Mangej Singh show in kargil war, The name of village's Govt school is given as Martyr Mangej Singh Govt senior sec school. On 6 June 2018, a marathon is also conducted from parbatsar to Harnawa village covering about 25 km to remember the sacrifice of the Brave Mangej Singh and also to promote and motivate youngers of nearby villages to join the Indian Armed forces to serve the motherland with a prestige.The name of Government Girls UPS School is given as Shaheed Ram Karan Thakan GGUPS Harnawa Patti by the efforts of Mr. Ramniwas Gawriya M.L.A. of Parbatsar. Harnawa can be reached from Parbatsar - Piplod - Kanwlad - Janjila - Badu - Harnawa and another way from Parbatsar is Parbatsar - Huldhani - Badu - Harnawa. One can also come from Merta City - Bherunda - Harsore - Bhakri - Harnawa. From Jaipur, Harnawa can be reached via Kishangarh.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Harnawa had a population of 5,034. Males constitute 2527 of the population and females 2507.
Harnawa's population comprises about 1100 families, out of them 300 are Rajputs Rathore ((Mertiya Rathore)), 300 are Jats (Thakan, Dhoon, Bana, Karwa, Bhincher, Dara, Diwach, Chuvel, Dudi, Lochhab, Jakhar, Dara, Dhaka, Akodiya) Brahmans (60), Kumhars (50),Harijan (30), Mahajans (15) (Oswals and Maheshwaris).[citation needed]
Samadhi of Ranabai
Ranabai took a live Samadhi at village Harnawa on bhadrpadi shukla trayodashi Samvat 1627 (1570 AD).[citation needed] Ranabai's brother Bhuwanji built a kachchi Samadhi after she died.[citation needed] The Samadhi is still present near the temple of Gopinath in Harnawa. The worship of Samadhi and the Gopinath temple is done traditionally by the descendants of her family.[citation needed]
On the samadhi site at Harnawa village there is an annual grand fair organized every year on the Hindu calendar date Bhadva sudi teras, when devotees come from far-off places.[citation needed]
